Your baby probably has acid reflux. My son has had it since birth. The hospital was'nt sure why he was spitting so much. They kept changing formula & he kept spitting. My doctor figured out it was acid reflux. He had to have cereal mixed in his bottle from 1mth to 12mths.Every bottle. To 4oz of formula i added 6 teaspoons of cereal.Yes this helps with it.He is now 14mths & 24pds.It will make your baby gain weight quicker. But my baby is healthy & a great eater now. With acid reflux it is better to keep him sleeping sitting up.In a swing or in the crib w/something propped under it.If the spitting up is all the time, talk to your doctor. If he is'nt spitting up anymore w/cereal it may be a mild case.Talk to your doctor,my son was on Zantac to help w/the burning sensation. He also took a medicine that helped his stomach muscle get stronger. There is no medicine that is for the spitting up part though. Some babies do stop breathing from this.Mine never did though. It is suspose to go away at 12 mths, but my son still has it.Not half as bad though.Good Luck!!!!

Sounds like he might have reflux (which a lot of babies have and eventually grow out of). Thickening his formula with the rice cereal will help. Also, talk to his pediatrician about it. If he does have bad reflux there are medications that can be given (Reglan and/or Zantac) that usually help.

My daughter will be 3 months in a couple days and we're going through the same thing. Her pedi also wasn't concerned. The two most important questions are: Is my baby gaining weight? Does he projectile spit up? If your baby is gaining adequate weight, your doc is unlikely to give you meds. If there's no projectiling meds are also unlikely. A different doc gave us the baby Zantac. She's only been taking it for a few days. To be honest, I haven't noticed much of a difference so far and it's incredibly expensive, even with our good insurance.

I was wondering if he could have reflux my son had the same thing but it was really bad he did have reflux I was giving special stuff that helped but I also had to give him on a spoon I had to give him this stuff I can't remember what it was called now mixed with a little breast milk and give it to him on a spoon it was funny to watch as he looked like a baby bird trying to eat from a spoon later on I then had to give he rice cereal. But yes giving your child this in the bottle is the right information as well but you also have to be careful the he dose not get the milk to fast this could course wind pain in the tummy that is also not a good thing. but if its been working then keep doing this.

You could also try a different formula, or he may be lactose intolerant. But if he is doing better with the rice cereal i would stick with it. Keep up the good work!

He might not be getting along well with the formula. My daughter had that problem -- i ended up switching to the target brand formula and slowing down the amoutn she ate. For instance..instead of eating four ounces at once..id spread the two ounces for one 20 min period and two more 20 mins later. Ask your pediatrician...they'll be able to definatly help you solve this one. I hope it helps!

My son was breast fed and had projectile vomiting. The doctor told me that I should stop. I was upset, but did it anyway. The heavier formula helped him and I felt like I had let him down with my breast milk. If it's working that's great. Good Luck!
