I was also 17 when i had my first child and like you i worked and had a apartment in addition to attending school...
This is one of the hardest things that you are going to have to do. What i did is you have time to feed your baby in the am before going to school do that, when you get to school you will want to be on a every two hour pumping cycle.. so just figure out what class you will have at that two hour mark.. lets say that maybe you have a study hall get a pass and do your business then two hours from there is lunch again take your lunch with you and do the same two hours from there is time to head home. So before heading to work go and see your baby feed and give loves head to work and after being at work for two hours you get a break use that to pump again.
I know that this sounds like a lot of work and it is dear but well worth it.
I am now breastfeeding my second child who is 6 months old and yes my oldest is now 9 anyway i am doing that i am pumping her first bottle her at home and then every two hours while at work until i get home...
I can't even tell you how much my heart goes out to you. You can do this.... If i can any one can.. You are going to have some REALLY hard days but keep in mind always they do get better and they do get easier...

Well, I would suggest pumping...but that also takes time. The best bet would be to go to the nurses office and pump every two hours or so. Going to the nurses office would gurantee that you could get some privacy, and ensure that you could get a pass to get back into your next class. If you have an electric pump, it wouldn't take as long as a manual one. So you wouldn't be missing too much class.

It would be a good idea to talk to the school nurse ahead of time so that she can have some time to arrange an appropriate atmosphere (like sectioning off a section of the room with a divider or something). If she gives you any grief, then talk to your principal or headmaster. You have a right to breastfeed and the right to appropriate accomodations.

But if it's too much of a hassle, then giving your baby formula during the day isn't a bad thing either. You can still nurse in the evenings when you get home and in the morning before you leave for school. Your milk supply will adjust to the amount of stimulation and the times of day they are stimulated. Doing both formula and nursing is very possible, I did with my firstborn.

Chin up! Things will be ok. Bravo to you for working so hard on keeping up with your studies and your responsibility to work! Congrats on your little one!! Good Luck!!

ps-I would NEVER nurse or pump for that matter in a bathroom. Bathrooms are just so unsanitary. Nursing/Pumping moms should have a clean, quiet relaxing atmosphere to do that in.

Nobody has the right to judge others. I was a teenage mom now my daughter is 22 and I am a foster mom so yeah those who judge can kiss my A $ $ I would introduce the baby to baby bottles ... get a breast pump and pump enough milk to use while you are at school . You can pump out more than you need and freeze it until you need it. I think it can last in the freezer for a week or two. People should be proud that you went back to school and that you are doing what is best for the baby ~~ CoNgRaTs~~

I guess it depends on who is watching your child while you are at school. Pumping breast milk is probably the best option. That way your child will have the benefits of the milk, but you won't have to miss a lot of school. This would give you both the opportunities you deserve. Besides, if you have someone bring the baby into the school every two or three hours to eat, this would be too much on both of you!

There are some schools now that have a daycare so that mothers can bring their children to school with them. If your school is like this, then breastfeeding in school is feasible, not easy but feasible.

By the way, I am glad you have decided to breastfeed. That is very important! I am one the unfortunate ones that cannot, and it is horrible. Congratulations on your baby! I wish you the best of luck! I had my daughter at 18, and I know how hard it can be. If you need any advice or just someone to talk to, feel free to contact me by email or IM. I hope you find the best solution to your problem, and good luck!!!

Have you and your parents looked into the different schooling options in your area? Some areas offer daycare within the high school, to help girls be closer to their children and still finish school. Also, some areas have alternative schools, work at your own pace programs. And there are also home school options that would allow you to finish your schooling while still being at home with your child. Lastly, you always have the option of pumping and storing milk for your baby. You could probably get away with pumping once, during the middle of the day, as long as you feed before and after school. Maybe your school will allow this during a study hall or something. Good luck, and good for you on deciding to breastfeed, even with the challenges it will present you.

Talk with your school. It might seem weird and uncomfortable but if you want to nurse you will need to pump and a bathroom just isn't a great place to do it. Maybe they can direct you to a room that you can use.

Also I know breast it best, but I did both bottle and breast feeding. Both my boys are happy and healthy. Your baby will get the benefits of breastfeeding even if you only do it a few times a day. You will need to wait and see how things play out. But remember how ever you choose to feed your baby is up to you and what works best for the two of you. Good luck, and great job trying to hold yourself together. You are going to be a great mama. I wish you all the luck in the world! You can do it

First of all you need to buy a breast pump. It only takes a few minutes and can be done in a stall in the bathroom. Make sure to pump several bottles of breast milk for the baby the night before you go to school so he/she will have enough while your at school. Also talk to your principal...they should be able to help accomidate you as well. Also when you pump during school have an insulated cooler to store the bottle in so when you get home if you don't have enough milk in your breast you can give the baby a bottle of breast milk. Then at next feeding time you should have produced more to feed from the breast then. Breast milk can be stored in a fridge for up to 48hrs. Hope this helps and bravo to you for being a responsible mom.

I would pump. People are going to critisize you just cause they can. People are stupid like that. I was 17 and pregnant and I actually had to transfer to another school. With any luck everything will go ok though. Don't worry about what everyone else thinks. I would try pumping. It worked great to me. I know exactly what you are dealing with. I am barley 18 with a 3 month old...Granted I love her more than anything in the world but it is kinda hard...I you wanna talk...e-mail me...grace_n_josie@yahoo.com

You have a lot on your plate ,work and school and baby ,good on you for trying to get your education .to feed you will need a good breast pump and a fridge to keep the milk in and bottles ext. you will need to express milk on your breaks and refrigerate it for the next day ,it is not easy but can be done ,it would help if you could see the baby on your lunch break too and feed then ,if it is too hard ,don't feel bad ,you can only do your best and formula is not as bad as it used to be .a few weeks breast feeding gives your baby a good start.Good luck andhold your head high ,I had my first young but I dont think I could have done what you are ..go girl..

Wow I admire you. Im so glad that your keeping your baby and going to school. Is there anyway you could take some time off from school and then after a couple of weeks use a breast pump. You could still feed your baby outside of school but during it your baby could be fed from a bottle. Is there someone that will take care of the baby? Ask a doctor or another mother. I hope everything works out.
