My son is 3 months old and loves his swing, bouncy-seat and babygym. Often he'll spend 20 minutes happily entertained by them. I've been told that he will soon lose his interest in these things which not only keep him happy, but give mom a few minutes of peace :-). Any suggestions on toys to entertain him in the next stage? How much longer do you think I'll have before he outgrows what he has now? We live in an apartment and space is a concern.

He will probably loose interest once he starts crawling. But you can also get a jumper. One that hangs in the door way. My daughter loved hers. Exersaucers are great too. As far as the next developmental toys. Try the peekablocks. They are really neat. They have a set that comes with a shape sorter. Also the 5 ring tower is a good one too. That's the one with the bigger to small rings on a stick. They have fancy ones now that light up and make music. You can get one of the stationary activity tables too. The legs can come off and it can sit flat on the floor or you can leave two on and angle it so once he is sitting he can play with it. Then once he is standing he can use it too. Fisher Price makes one as well as leap frog.

the best things are the most simple
try making a standing poster of pictures of babies you can find in magazines, newpapers, and advertizements
also you can take an inexpensive photo album and some of the extra pictures from above and mixed with actual photos of people and places your child sees everyday and things you do with him ( I made one of these for my daughter when she was one yr old and even today 18 yrs later its one of her most favored keepsakes)
you can also make some simple instruments for her to play with like a drum, rattles and using an old water bottle 8-10 oz size and put in some rice or beans and seal the lid on
another fun toy i made used the same or smaller sized bottles and inside put some glitter, or other floating small items, mix with water or clear cooking oil and seal the lid shut.
check out parents.com and other online sites to find other ideas.
too many electronic toys can cause lots of furstration for both of you--too loud, need new batteries all the time etc. and remember to rotate the toys on a weekly basis even the simplest of toys seems new if they dont see it for a while.

Well he loves either seeing me, my husband or his 2 year old brother. Actually, anyone for that matter. If I talk to him he just coos at me and smiles so big! Try getting something, like a mobile. I know my 3 month old has one with bears on it and he will lay there for at least 30 mins. and just laught and coo at them

There are SOOOO many toys out there for babies! My niece has this play circle thing that she stands in and there are activities all around her. She just turned 1 and still loves it! It's by Baby Einstein - Discover & Play™ Activity Center. It's wonderful!!!

exersaucer!! And oddly enough, a highchair. It gives them a new perspective and view on things.
