Newborn & Baby - August 2006

I have everything done except for the "entertainment".I know he is only 12 months but he is very attentive and likes looking at things and dancing.I'm having his party at the park because the expected turn out is more than I'd care to stuff in my home.So I was hoping I could get some party ideas for a 12 month old birthday party.Answers from experience only please!

everyone in my family is pressuring me to give my son babies cereal at 4 months! my moms the only 1 who agrees with me not to give him cereal at this age. hes just a lil over 17 lbs. im not ready to give him cereal yet and ive told my family this as well. his paed. says not to either... but they keep nagging me that hes hungry cuz his milk isnt enough for him and im tired of them always on my back, but they wont listen to me. its really discouraging and annoying. what else could i possibly tell them without cursing at them, cause thats how i feel most times!

We have issues with him taking a bottle. We feed him rice cereal once a day ( in morning 10am) and then vegetables/fruits once a day ( in evening 6pm) with 4 bottles a day, but recently he's been rejecting the bottle (either after a few ounces or from the start. He is teething, but this is going on too long! Pediatrician said to wait 5-10 minutes and offer it to him again and try for 30 minutes. We tried this and he's had a full bottle ( 7 to 8 ounces ) in morning and refuses to even start a bottle the rest of the day. He refuses sippy cup also. We seem to have only 2 choices.
1) If he refuses the bottle, let him skip the feeding. Problem is he is will get less than the 24 oz minimum daily if we do this.
2) If he refuses for 30 minutes, let him eat the formula in cereal form. Is it a problem to continually give him the formula through the cereal if he doesn't take the bottle? Is it an issue nutrition-wise or maybe we're training him that he doesn't need to take the bottle?

as i was saying (see other question for story) i told him i was pregnant again, and like my boyfriend before he went and got a divorce, and left me.i was devistated and i asked him why, but he wouldnt answer.then i said i thought u like clidren, and he said i lied because you were the hottest girl i ever went out with. i know i sound bad, tricking him into marrage, but he did say yes and it was in the best interest of the baby. i decided to keep both babys and i moved into a home in PA, i didnt want my clidren to have bad health problems because of the city. now i have 2 healthy kids and im proud that i can make it on my own as a single mom. but am i a good mom?

tell me if u think im a good mom. ok here is the story. i got pregnant and when i told my boyfriend he left me and gave me $100 and told me that he didnt want to have to do anything with the baby. i wanted the baby to have a father and to have a good life so i started dating people in my early months of pregnancy and see if any of them were father material, and if i love them and their nice i would mary them so the baby could have the father. do you ask why i did this? well i was thinking about my baby, and it is to horrible to even think of a abortion. i found the perfect man for the job and when it started to show that i was pregnant i told him. he was suprisingly alright with it!! aparently he wanted kids and he really loved me so we got married.i loved him to but (i no this sounds horrible) i just wanted a father for my child. the bay is a healthy little boy and we have a very happy marrage, but right after the baby was born.. see mi other question 4 the rest of the story.

my daughter is 5 months and on enfimil gentlease b/c enfimil lipil gave her gass really bad. the gentlease has been gerat until reacently, she started spitting up really bad every time she eats and all day she spits up here and there i told her dr and she didnt do anthing or say to change her formula any suggestions on what to do?

My sister is having her first baby & she wants a very Italian sounding name (since her baby will be ~3/4 Italian) (to Americans). What is the most Italian sounding, elegant name you can think of?
She is considering Nicoletta or Marcella. Nicoletta is my screen name, so I like that!

I had a 10lb 21in baby girl and at 2 weeks she was eating 5 oz every hour and was crying all day and all night wanting more not being satisyfied so i gave her some cereal with my doctors approval b/c she new my situation. She compleaty changed she went to 4 oz every 2 1/2 hours and stopped crying. she is 5 months now and is just fine and never had a problem. Y are you people so rude and judgemental to parents like me that do what we have to for our babies?

The last few days my almost 7 month old has becoem really clingy and needy. And i don't understand why. He would always play and entertain himself while i was able to get housework done, and all of a sudden he has to be with me 24/7. He crawls to my feet and tries to climb up, crying. Once I pick himup, he's totally happy. I check his diaper, feed him, temperature-everything to see if its something physical. All he wants is mommy time. Why has he changed suddenly?What made him go from happy and independant to totally clingy?

My daughter is 6 weeks old tomorrow. She was breast fed until my milk dried up. She threw up a few times, nothing major. I put her on Enfamil LIpil with Iron and she threw it up after about a week. So I put her on Prosobee, and that constipated her. I had to give her a glyserin suppository to help her go to the bathroom every time she went. Then I tried the Enfamil Gentlease, and by the second bottle she was throwing it up. So my problem is that she can take the Prosobee, but she can't go to the bathroom. She is on the Prosobee right now, because I havent found anything else she can hold down. She gets really fussy when she eats like she knows that it is going to make her feel bad later. If anyone can help or give suggestions i would appreciate it. I am a mother of 4. My other children were fine. My second child had Reflux and he was on Prosobee with Zantac before I fed him. The other two never had any problems. I know this baby dont have reflux, she can take the Prosobe

Here is the thing, I have broken one of the "textbook" parenting rules. I have rocked her to sleep since she was a newborn and now that is the only way she can fall asleep. Therefore, she wakes all throughout the night wanting to be rocked, or to nurse, or her pacifer. The longest she stays asleep at night is and hour in a half. I am SOOOOO tired!!! LOL I need to know how to teach her to fall asleep on her own. Does the "cry it out" method really work? How do I do it? Do I start at naptime or bedtime? Will it hurt her to cry for a long period of time? How many days will it take? Lots of questions, I know! I would appreciate any advice I can get. Mommy & baby are TIRED!!!! Please help!! Thanx!!!
