So far I have got the bouncer, baby carrier, bibs, bathe stuff, onsies, wipes, and play gym. What is a really good gift?

It's for a baby boy.

I think that's good enough. Be there to support her after the baby is here.

One of the BEST gifts I got was this plastic diaper organizer that just hangs over the side of the diaper table. It has 1 slot on either side for holding things like rash ointment or lotion...and has a diaper dispenser with a flip top where you put your box of wipes. I LOVE IT! It keeps everything totally handy. Now that my second is 6mo and loves to roll I have this thing that is two soft triangles that Velcro together and keeps my booger from rolling around while I change her.

I think something I'd love to have at this age is a 4x4 blanket with 6 inch soft sides and toys so she has room to roll but doesn't spit on my carpet all the time because the carpet is a mess and I absolutely HATE using any kind of harsh chemical where she puts her face.

OOOOOO I forgot! There is a pacifier that they sell at Target that is a thermometer for taking their temps. I've been told they arn't 100% accurate but from my experience they still let me know if her temp is high and she doesn't fight me to do it!

An Industrial size box of wipes and diapers but get the diapers in a size 3 or bigger. That was one of my gifts at my baby shower and I thought it was a good idea.If you want to get her something for herself then you can get her a gift certificate to a spa or pay for housekeeping for her first or second week home.Just think of anything that will make her life outside of being a new mommy a little bit sweeter. You'd be amazed to what little things will go a long way.Good Luck!

That is way too much already. Your best friend's mother and sisters will feel outdone and feel you have overstepped your bounds; your best friend will feel trapped in the middle by your gesture.

Perhaps you might choose to take back all but one thing, like the bouncer or baby carrier - and then visit your friend after the baby is born and take her a box of diapers and your supportiveness. It's hard to be a new mom. That would be the most appreciated.

Get you a bag of newborn diapers and roll each diaper up and tie it with a pretty ribbon, arrange the diapers in a circle (approx. 30 diapers ) and tie a ribbon around them to hold them together (that will be your bottom layer of a diaper cake) do the same thing for 2 more layers, using a few less diapers on each layer. Go buy you some decortive diaper pins, baby bottles (minature), and pacifiers to decorate the top and sides.

Get her all the medicinal things that she's going to need for the baby. Most people don't think of those things, and most new mothers don't think of them until they need them. I'm talking Tempra, Orajel, Gripe Water, stuff like that. That would make a nice addition to the gifts you've already purchased. Although, you've purchased quite alot already. She should be lucky to have you as a friend.

I would give her a gift certificate for a day at a spa or maybe some cool pjs (since she'll be in them for awhile!). Sounds like the baby basics are covered, and the new mom can sometimes be forgotten.

I would say tons of those white onsies (for under the babies clothes and in the summer when it's hot) and lots of throw up/burp rags. And a nice soft blanket.

It is also a time for the mommie to be pampered ..although they dont have mommie showers..so id say give her a gift certificate to a nail place to get a pedicure... she will appreciate those feet looking beautiful even if she doesnt feel it after delivey..

It sounds to me like you have the baby stuff covered. Get your friend something special for herself that she would enjoy. If you are short on cash, give her coupons for babysitting, house cleaning, a night out with the girls, etc. Use your imagination and the shower will turn out great!
