All babies are different, but everything i ever read said NO SOLIDS until they are 6months. Maybe you need to change Pediatricians...

This is a new skill for a baby. It will take a while for him to learn to eat it without spitting some out. Make the food a little thinner until he learns. NEVER put it in the bottle. As he learns how to eat it you can make it thicker and then change the kinds of cereal or food. A healthy weight varies on the size of the baby. Your doctor will tell you if he is concerned. Good luck!

Not all babies are ready for cereal at 4 months. There's no hard or fast rule that says you HAVE to give your baby cereal at four months. Some people believe in waiting until the baby is 6 months...sometimes even older.

I'd wait until your baby is a little older...maybe wait a month or so and try again.

Some babies just aren't ready yet. Most pediatricians and other experts recommend waiting until six months. There is no nutritional need at four months so dont worry. If he doesn't want it dont force it. Your want him to be ready and willing and happy about it. It will not hurt his growth if he doesn't eat it. Remember the first time dilute about 1tbsp of cereal w/ 3tbsp. breastmilk or formula. try giving it to him on your finger while he is seated in your lap for the first time. Then move on to spoon, then high chair. My son started a six months and is now eating more than most babies his age, eleven months. Let your baby tell you what he needs and is ready for.

Babies have a tongue-thrust reflex, which means that whenever there's anything in their mouth, the tongue automatically goes up to the roof of the mouth. This is a reflex that disappears in time and it disappears sooner for other babies than others. As long as your baby is doing this, he is not ready for solids just yet. I suggest to keep trying once or twice a week to see if he stops this. If he is still doing this, put the solids away and try again next week. Don't frustrate yourself as there is nothing you can do about it.

hey, if the doc says give the kid food then give the poor kid his food. But remember it takes time. My son is now five months old and has been on cereal since four moths. It took him a few weeks to figure out how to swallow. Just stick with it and eventualy he will learn. But remember... you also are learning along with him and it will take a while for you guys to figure out a system tgether.
good luck

Remember that solid foods at this point are more "eating practice" than actually getting any nutrition. Keep going, he will get used to it with more time.
Make sure you are still breastfeeding or giving the baby formula.
Not sure about the weight, it depends on how long he is too.
Call the nurse at your doc to ask that.
I am sure you are doing fine. Just relax and enjoy your baby.

If he's pushing it out, he's probably not ready. Put the cereal aside for a week. My youngest never ate cereal. She flat out refused solids until I gave her baby food carrots.

your pediatrician is giving you recommendations that go against what the American academy of pediatrics recommends!

NO baby should have any solid food till at least 6 months (the fact that he still has his tongue reflex proves he is not ready).

stop trying tot give your baby cereal till his digestive system is ready for it :)

I am a nutritionist

Try making the cereal solution more watered down with the formula. He will learn.

child is too young for food. Needs to breastfeed or continue formula. No food until past 6 mos. No cows milk until 12 mos.
