Right now I am a stay at home mom with an 11 month old baby boy. I had my first son who is now 23 when I was very young and worked full time (sometimes with 2 jobs) since he was two weeks old and raised him by myself. I just re-married 3 years ago and have been blessed with another son. I stopped working right before he was born and my husband likes for me to be home with him. People keep asking me "When are you going back to work"? My sister-in-law keeps trying to get me a job. We are doing fine finacially so why are they so concerned. I cook, clean, shop, do laundry, maintain the yard and most of all take care of my baby 24/7 so why do people assume I'm lazy?? Before I had the baby I went to dinners, movies, went out shopping, week-ends away. I love being home with my baby and I never complain so what is their problem? I also take care of my mom who had a stroke and my dad who has altzheimers. I go back and forth to their house. Does anyone else encounter this?

The announcement itself was a very simple engraved stationary piece with the parents names and an attached card with the baby's name. The problem is that the baby's name is one of those odd family names that doesn't distinguish a gender. Any suggestions as to figuring it out what "it" is (beyond calling the parents to find out)?

My wife and I are in disagreement. She says we should close the door and let our 11 month old daughter cry herself to sleep. My approach is to pick her up, sit back in a chair and wait until she falls asleep.

What do the professionals recommend? If you can, please provide a link to a resource. (I tried to research this on American Pediatric Association website, but to no avail)

I help take care of a 1 year old who is spoilt by her mother. Should I just ignore them when they have their tantrums? Should I place her in a room and wait for her to calm down?

My husband and I have a son and he just turned 1 year old. My husband told me last night he does want to start trying for another as soon as I want to. I do want to have another baby, I'm just unsure how long to wait. I think next spring so the children will be about 3 yeas apart. What has your experience been? How far apart are your children? Was is planned that way? Would you change it?

I took my lil girl to the doctor on Staurday. Just for a regular baby check up and her shots. Well the doctor said her soft spot is completely sealed and that isnt a good sign for a baby of her age. She said my daughter needs to have X-rays done to see how her head is developing and see how her brain is. Im a terrified, I've never heard of this before. My lil girl is very active and very advanced for her age according to my doctor. I still am scared if there might be something wrong. Has anyone ever heard of this ....and should I be freaked out. I keep running this through my head. I know you other mothers would let me know if there was something to be scared of...I love my lil girl so much and I just want to make sure she's ok.

I am trying to get my 6 month old son on sippy cups. We've tried pretty much everything nuby, gerber, and playtex. He just doesn't want to hold on...it's almost like he's to lazy to hold anything by himself. I've sat there and listen to him scream because he just doesn't want to hold the sippy cup but he's hungrey. I figured that if he knows I won't run and hold it for him he'll just hold it himself. I just don't get it...the first time we give him a new sippy cup he does just fine but then anytime after that he just wants me to hold it? Is there any advice on how to get him to slowly get him into the sippy? I've heard that some kids just find it easier to drink from a regular cup first(without a spout)? Thanks a bunch!

My little boy has been very crabby since birth, very whiny and never slept well - for an entire year! The Dr said he was normal and just fussy. He recently had strep throat and after taking the antibiotic for three days, the strep throat cleared up and he's been a very happy baby since. It was an immediate change, not gradual. He used to whine and "grumble" all day long. Now no whining unless he's hungry or tired (like a normal baby), and he now naps well and sleeps through the night. He even crawls up on my lap when he's tired. Before the antibiotic he would wake up 2-3 times during naps or sleep about a half hour a day, then would wake up 4-5 times at night, sometimes more. Also he would kick, pinch and bite when getting him to sleep. He now plays with toys, entertains himself, laughs and is a joy. All our friends and family have commented so it's an extremely noticeable change. Could the antibiotic have cleared up something he's had for an entire year, or does that seem far fetched?

My son is 6 months old and has started scooting on his belly. He uses his arms to pull himself and his feet to kick. He can go around the whole living room. Does this mean hes about to crawl?

My 12 week old son has only put on 2ozs this week, 1oz last week, and 2ozs the week before. I'm concerned since the average is 4-8ozs per week. He's feeding well - having approx 31-32ozs experessed breast milk per day - and it mostly stays down. The Health visitor says to review it in 2 weeks - but that's a long wait! Has anyone had similar or got any suggestions?

Most 9 month babies take 2 1-2 hour naps, but mine just keeps waking up after 40 minutes, even when I keep her up longer. She sleeps from 8-7 at night, soo no worries there. How can I get her to take longer naps and/or cut down to 2 per day? She still seems to get sleepy after 2 hours of being up (rubs eyes, yawns, etc).
