My son is 6 months old and has started scooting on his belly. He uses his arms to pull himself and his feet to kick. He can go around the whole living room. Does this mean hes about to crawl?

he's wanting to, but lacks the strength in his arms and legs to actually do so. In a few weeks he'll be crawling for sure, and have you tired out from chasing him in the process!

Yes, but sometimes babies skip the whole crawling phase. Sometimes they just scoot and go right from there to walking. They can do all kinds of weird things. All babies are different, he might just keep doing what he's doing! My girl started crawling around 7 months. Now she is 10 months and cruising around furniture. She can stand on her own for about 5-10 seconds, then realizes nobody is holding her and she falls on her butt!! Haha, it's a lot of fun!

well he can be learning to crawl most babies do some form of scooting before they crawl , the scooting may consest of basically the army crawl , where others may learn how to place one foot flat on ground and do it that way , and then theres those that will scoot on there backs to get to where they want and then there are those kids that skip crawling all together and just start walking . your child is developing right on schedule though , i would just give him/her more floor time and now is the time to really get down on the floor and look around from your childs view point and child safe your home a lil more than what it may already be , cause once they start crawling it wont be to much longer before he /she is pulling his or her self up to furniture etc , so if u have coffee tables with corners that can cause harm , then i would suggest u remove it or get theses furnitur thingys that u can place on all pointed edges of your furniture so they dont get hurt on the furniture , i had to make 2 er visits because of the infamous coffee table

My second child never really did a real crawl, she only did the "Army" crawl. My niece did the same thing. They both preferred to stand and push toys across the floor. He may start to crawl very soon, or he may adapt his "scoot" a little to go faster!

mostly likely he will start soon because the scoot first to get around ever where until the realize that crawling is fast in the next couple of weeks he will be crawling.

Possibly - it's how crawling starts - although some babies go from this to walking, some only ever crawl backwards, or bottom shuffle - each one is difference - the fun bit is waiting to see what the little'en does next

Yep, he'll probably be crawling pretty soon. He just hasn't learned how to use his legs for crawling but it sounds like he's mastered the rest of it. :)

That is how my son started out to and it didn't take him long to figure out what to do after that. I would say maybe a week or two and then in three or four months he will be walking!!
