Try the Wubbanub- it is a pacifier with a little stuffed animal sewn onto it that the baby can hold onto and also acts as leverage to keep it in her mouth.

Some babies, especially breast fed babies, won't like a pacifier and will refuse to keep it in their mouth. Try a couple of different styles of pacifiers, there are many different types. Also make sure to get the right size for your baby's age and shaped mouth. Your baby is very young and you may need to very gently hold the pacifier in place for a few seconds until he/she gets the idea of what to do with it. He/she as well as you are learning new things every day. It takes time, patience, and practice when it comes to all these new experiences. If your baby repeatedly spits out every pacifier you try, it may just be that he/she just won't be a "pacifier baby" and you may want to try another comfort measure, such as a special blanket or stuffed animal.

my daughter had colic and never took a pacifier. We just switched her formula and never forced her to take a pacifier. I am so glad because I see 3 and 4 year olds whos parents cannot seem to get them off of the pacifier. You should consider yourself lucky that you wont hae to ween your baby off in a cople years. Its tough.

If your child doesn't want it then you should just accept that. My son only used one for four or five months because he really didn't like it much. I consider myself lucky because some parents have a very difficult time trying break the addiction. Have you ever seen a three- or four-year-old walking around trying to talk around a pacifier? It's disturbing.

Dont force the child to take the pacifier. My son did and it was hard to get him off. It's a good thing dont push it.

Dont...whats the point? If he/she hasnt taken it so far its telling you something. They dont want some plug in their mouth that doesnt provide anything substantial...no milk, just rubber. Some kids like rubber whatsits in their mouth, yours it too sensible to want that. You will only have to ween it off after a few years anyway.

Why not answer its real needs...ie milk/water/a hug/change the diaper. Pacifying is about meeting needs yes? A bit of rubber in your babies mouth doesnt satisfy YOUR baby...so do something else.

If you are breast feeding your baby it will probably not take a pacifier. They pacifier is usually much bigger than your nipple. You could try putting a little bit of breast milk on it, or formula if you aren't breast feeding.
Some babies just don't like them.

Maybe you could try to just hold it in their mouth until they take it, it might take a few times before they get the hang of it. But remember too, some kids might not want a pacifier. My son didnt ever take it, and he did just fine without.

Maybe she/he doesn't need one. Neither of my children ever used a pacifier, ever. And remember if you get them to use one it is just another thing that later you have to break them from. And, if a baby's needs are meet and its happy it doesn't need a pacifier.
