My son is quite possibly afflicted with ADHD and almost definitely has another disorder known as Oppositional Defiant Disorder. We are having this theory checked out tomorrow by his pediatrician. I'm sure we'll be referred on to someone else as well. The problem is, I'm wondering what to say to him when he asks why we're going to the doctor. He's not sick, and it's not a checkup. He's extremely easy to get angry and I don't want him going into a tantrum about it and feeling like I'm putting him down or disciplining him. I love him so much and I want to help him through this but his self-esteem is very fragile right now. Any thoughts how to explain what we're doing and why?

When you take the pill, and have sex can the guy still "go" in you? I'm sorry, I know this sounds like a 12 year old... but, I would rather not ask my co-workers or friends.

If you could not have a child with them by ANY means, not even in vitro, adoption, foster care, etc.

Would you leave your spouse if you found out yours was going to be a childless marriage?

His doc says it is either his bladder isnt large enough and he needs to hold it before he goes, or that it is stress related. Well, I took him out of football to help with stress, and I make him wait a couple min b4 he goes, but nothing has changed? And suggestions? We have bed wetting issues often.

I live in Texas. My son is 6 months old. We have not formally adopted him yet but will in 1 month. I have an open adoption with my son's birthmother. We have a very good relationship.
My adopted son's maternal grandmother is a not a good person. She is convicted felon, has 3 kids who were taken away by CPS (including my son's birthmother) and still has 1 child in the foster care system. For some reason, she dead set on getting my son back though. She can't get her own son out of CPS but she wants my son. She threatens my son's birthmother all the time and has gone so far as to contact a lawyer. The lawyer tried to find out if his birthmother had been coerced.
Obviously there was no coercion. Do we have anything to worry about? I really need reassurance.
My son's birthmother let the adoption agency know what is going on and told them she is very happy with where her son is. I'm just concerned because she still seeks approval from her mom and can be easily influenced.

every night when they themselves don't? Also, as children become older they stop praying cause it is uncool obviously. Would you tell your children to pray before they go to bed? How many grown ups pray every day? I ve heard that praying is asking from God and meditating is like listening to the answer. If so shouldn't we teach our children to meditate as well?

I am soon going to be having my 10 month old nephew visiting from out of state. (This will be my first time seeing him!!!)
I have a flight of stairs with open railings (more than a soda can wide) that are attached such that I can't use a normal baby gate at either end. I think I will be able to attach a gate just past the top of the stairs with a wide gate against an unused bedroom door and the wall so he can't get near anything dangerous.
My problem is at the bottom of the stairs, the bottom step extends past the wall/railing and we have these bizarre tall baseboards that even if I could get a gate up, I'm afraid he might be able to wiggle under it. (I do not under estimate the creativity of my family.) Is there a product out there I might be able to put across to discourage him going up the stairs?
He is only visiting for a week, so I don't want to spend a massive amount, but I want him safe.

We are expecting our 2nd boy in December. We gave our first son a middle name from my side of the family and would like to give our 2nd a middle name from my husband's side.

However, there are not really any males on his side of the family! He was estranged from his father's side, and on his mother's side there are some "out there" names (LeRoy, Arlo). His uncle has a fine name, but it is AWFUL with our last name.

Can I live with this? Is it poor form to pick two names from my side of the family?

I love my MIL, but every time she watches my son (15 mos.), w/in 24 hrs, he has blisters and horrible diaper rash! She's diabetic & eats sugar-free foods. She mentions giving my kids 'snacks' (which are ok by me, but I've noticed all are sugar-free), but when I pick them up, my daughter (7) complains about her stomach hurting & my son's butt looks horrible! I can usually clear it up w/baking soda and Lanolin overnight, but would the sugar-substitues be causing this issue? I've researched it online & see it does cause GI problems - but someone else? I believe in my kids eating healthy, but enjoying too - so I don't feed them fat-free, low cal, sugar free stuff - heck, they're kids! And, I do a lot of cooking so they don't eat a lot of chemically altered/processed food. Maybe their systems aren't used to it? Just some insight b/c my poor son's butt can't handle this anymore!

As I said before, this is not a Mommy and Me class but a place of business. Do I bring my dog to the office (by the way she smells way better than the kids and is better behaved)? Kids are disease infested rats with backpacks,is keeping them away from the office too much to ask?
And please, I know kids can't help being sick... The question is, why bring them to work? You can't leave them at home alone, no babysitter, whatever... You should have thought about it before you popped out those little carbon coppies of yourself...

I am due on the 29th of November with my first baby and live in Arkansas but my aunts want to throw a babyshower in Tennesse on the 15th of November and I'm not sure if its a good idea to leave that close to my due date and if for some reason i have the baby early and don't have it in the hospital here I am still going to get charged for it here. So i don't know if i should go or they also said they could give me the money they were going to use for the baby shower.

How do I tell my 9 yr old son that the man that he thought was his dad isn't. I was with my ex husband for 6 years and we've been divorced for 4. He is re-married and hasn't seen my son for 18 months. I got court papers in the mail over the weekend and they informed me that 2 years ago, my ex-husband had a DNA test performed on my son without my knowledge. Needless to say the results say there is a 0% chance that he is my son's father. I was shocked and had no idea. If I had I assure you that I would never have put my son (and myself) thru the mental and physical abuse that he has been through. I know who is real father is. . .it's actually my high school sweetheart. Before you start slamming me about cheating, I would like you to know that we weren't married when my son was conceived. My ex and I had split up for about 2 months and me and my HS sweetheart had gotten back together. I went back to my ex at the end of Nov 97, found I was prenant on 12/31/97. So. . .now what?

Ok this is embareassing but I have to ask because I am quite concerned.....Yesterday my husband and I made love for the first time after 2months (since our baby was born) I was embareassed because I thought I would feel the same "down there" but I didnt.....Its not exactly "loose" down there but its not as "tight" as it was before I had my baby.....I want that "tightness" feeling again, and I was reading that Kegel excercises help tighten that area....the problem is I dont understand how they are done? Can someone please explain this to me? I also read that they can be done while sitting?...Sorry for my ignorance....Thank you for your answers..

This is my first pregnancy. I want to have my baby natural for a number of reasons but I'm still scared to death. I know women have been doing it since the beginning of time but I don't know. Is there anyone who had a natural child birth? Would you do it again? Do the contractions actually feel worse then the birthing process? Also could you describe all the pain in detail if you remember? Does it feel like you're going to die or that you're being ripped in half? Did you have the baby natual without any Lamaze classes? lol Sorry I know this is a lot but I'm in desparate need of some answers ASAP! Thanks so much to everyone who answers some or all =]
