I know every child is different...but here is my question: my daughter just turned 7 months old...was eating very little solids and close to 40 oz of formuala a day...all of a sudden she has decided to eat solids. Half a jar in the morning and 2 jars (4.5 oz) in the evening (but has cut back to like 24 oz of formula). Is this too much...it just seems like such a leap from hardly anything...and I've been told you can't overfeed a baby...is this true? Did any of your kids do this so suddenly?? Just curious...

Have you ever seen someone (i.e. an actress) and admire them, so start to like their name after? This happened with Maureen O'Hara, an idol of mine and I thought she was beautiful so now I find the name Maureen prettier than I did before. Crazy huh.

I turn off the TV, We all sit down down together, nothing works! She wont eat! She just plays with her food and takes like 2 or 3 bites. She doesn't snack much during the day so that's not it. I cook her favorite foods but still just a couple bites! She's very energetic and busy and just can't seem to sit still. I've tried leaving her at the table, telling her she has to sit there all night if she doesn't eat and she sits there! After an hour or so I give up. What can I do? This has been going on for like 6 months! She's not malnourished or anything but she is pretty skinny and I give her baby vitamins just to make sure she's getting something but I don't know what to do! I'm at my witts end.....

My son is 11 and he goes through these spurts, a week he is really good, and than all of a sudden he goes into a spell where he is in trouble at school and this week he was suspended from the bus for two days, What or How do I discipline him so that it will stick. I have tried to ground him which never works because we live in the middle of no where and there is nothing to really ground him from. I have taken away his TV and Video game privelages this also does not work I am at my wits end because I know he can be good. He just chooses not to, And the school is starting to think they should lean towards medication, he has already been tested for all of that and that doesn't seem to be a problem. Any advice?

I would love thoughtful feedback on why it is that parents are afraid of finding out their child might have ADHD. I was horrified when my son was diagnosed with asthma at 6 months old. I had been brought up to think it was "all in your head" and had never had to deal with it before. I tried to "pretend" it wasn't there, but every few months we'd end up back at the DRs office for breathing treatments... until I accepted it, and now... no more problems. My son is a normal healthy boy who is treated for asthma! That is a medical issue and so is ADHD, but people treat the concept of ADHD with such passion...how come?

i had a misscariage only 39 days before, which i was 8 weeks pragnant after a whole year of trying with no success, and my doctor told me it might took me long as i was using depo-provera.
then i went to see another doctor that he sent me for a series of test and they all came back with good results.
my life turned into hell after what happened and i had my period after it in only 2 weeks, which i feel bad that me and my partner are making love for the baby sake!!!
but recently i started to curve for things that i never ate much of before especeialy fruits!!! i'm even eating oranges, which i really hate even the smell of it!!!
can it be pragnancy or NOT??? i really can't face another long year to get pragnant again

My son feels attacks of anxiety when he imagines that we have abandoned him for example if he can't find his parents or if we are late to collect him. He recently saw another man that looks like me who ignnored him (of course), and this triggered an anxiety attack. I feel he is expressing his anxiety through dread of abandonment. I have encouraged him to use plans of action such as seeking help instead, and this is working but only in specific situations where he has learned to do that and then becomes comfortable with a specific situation. For example, after coaching him, he now feels comfortable after his swimming lesson finding his own way back to our seat. When a new different situation arises he again feels the anxiety attack.

I just took my 8 month old son to the drs. He had a slight temp and he said 2 bad ear infections. I told him he has had 9 diarrhea diapers so far and he told me not to worry about that cuz he isnt concerned about it. He did not check his throat nor his nose. He also didn't take his pulse ox which really worries me. He is filling in for a pediatrician and is not a pediatric dr. He told me to give him the penicillin and wait to see if he gets better by Monday. His face is bright bright red and he totally out of it. I feel this is reason to go to the ER but the dr. says to wait it out.. What r ur opinions? I have no idea what to do since I have to get a referal at the Er from his Dr. Mind you his isn't his usual dr. but our pediatrician quit and this guy is just filling in. Ur opinions will be appreciated!!

proud of their kids?
When my daughter was younger she was a competive gymnanst. In 1996 she competed at the Badger State Games. At the awards ceremony she was awarded 1st place all around, but she added up her scores and realized that there had been a mistake in the scoring, so got up in front of the whole State of Wisconsin and declared that there was a mistake and she didn't deserve the medal and returned it, Other kids hid theirs. After re-tallying the results she ended up with 3rd place all around and 3rd place on uneven bars. All this from an 11 year old. I had never been so proud of her.

Does anyone else have a baby that is really active during the day?

I'm 21wks pregnant and feel little bumps all the time. Even as i sit here at my desk typing i can feel "bump bump bump". Alot of books i've read and people i've spoken to have said baby isn't as active during the day... but that doesn't seem to hold true with me. I feel movements through out the day and they seem to die down at night.

Has anyone else encountered this? Because of it i initially thought it couldn't be my baby simply because it happened too frequently through out the day... but if its not the baby then i have something majorly wrong with my insides! lol.

My baby also seems to "hang out" low on my left side - thats where baby spends the most time.. why is that? Do they tend to favour one position over any other?

Thanks.

Should I have saved some cookies??
Okay so this is the deal....last night at work the people in administration delivered plates of Gingerbread cookies for the Holidays. There were 12 cookies on the plate and there are 21 people in the department. Well the corridinator got ALL bent out of shape this morning because us on the night shift left 3 cookies on the plate. He even went so far as to email the lady in charge of distrubuting the cookies. I honostly didn't think of making the night shift save some for next day for the morning people. They have 8 to 9 people on their shift where I have 5 to 6 people on mine so either way there wouldn't have been enough for EVERYONE! Usually when the dayshift gets something, they let us have "whats left over" which is usually crap that has been sitting out all day long!!! I am curious as to what others would have done in this situation. The coordinator was mad because he didn't get a cookie.
