Pregnancy & Parenting - 13 October 2006

I am a mom of two boys ages 15 & 20. My 20 year old moved out last year and is on his own. I am also stepmom to my hubbys 2 boys ages 9 & 10.

Anyway, my 15 year old has come to the age/stage in his life that he wants to live with his dad. His dad has been paying me child support off and on -still owes $10,000. (Anyway, I was not going to argue over the fact that he wants to live there and making necessary changes. ) I know kids must make their own decision and learn on their own.

Anyway, his dad is worried about getting child support. He called today stating he talked to (child support agency) and is requesting a copy of a letterfrom me stating I am closing the case. I told him I am not closing the case - IS HE NUTS? I replied "that I went many months without myself.

First of all, I have had him here for past 9 years myself since divorce - since this is new thing - I consider this a temporary arrangement for the school year to assure this is indeed what he wants.

My beautiful 24 year-old daughter had an emotional break-up with her boyfriend of 3 years in July. Since that time she has spent most nights with friends hanging out at bars. She is losing her job in two weeks when the business closes and has no other job lined up. She will not be able to pay her rent and other bills, but she seems to be almost frantic about going out every night to drink and party with these friends. I am worried about how she will get by. Can anyone help me understand what I need to do or say to get her to accept some responsibility for her choice of activities? By the age of 24 she should have grown out of the bar and party scene. She has no plans or goals for the future. She dropped out of college so she has no higher education. Please help me understand what to do.

I'm almost 9 weeks pregnant and for the past week or two I've been noticing this bad smell coming from down below...I haven't had sex in over three weeks and this started well after the last time I got with my hubby. Also after I had sex but before the smell I went to my first check up and they tested for everything so I know it's not an STD.....I shower just about every day or every other day but notice this even a few hours after being all clean. There is discharge as well but nothing too much out of the normal. I don't understand why this is happening and want to douche but I know it's not good in general to do that...let alone do it while you're pregnant.....I have an appt next week with the OB doc so of course I'll ask then but do you have any advice that will help me out?

Okay my boyfriend is goin through a really tough time right now and i need to know how to comfort him... We've been together for a while now... and we've always been there for eachother. since we've been together him and his family have moved like 3 times and now his mom doesnt have a home so hes living with his cousin's grandmad and his moms living with her sister..My dad and I are supose to go shopping tomorrow in the states and i wanted my bf to come but he said he doesnt want 2 bc he has no money.. So i was like alright. and we were sitting at the computer and he looked all sad and im like what wrong hun hes like my life is soo messed up... im like why hes like I have no money i have no home that i can call mine, then i said well I'm here for you hes like i know and i appreciate it and then he said.im so hurt inside i wanna cry but im holding it in.i told him not 2.started 2 cry and i huged him and he had watery eyes what do i do to help him I hate seein him like this i love him

Okay... I'm Mixed half white halft black... and.... My hair is naturally curly... but its pretty its not frizzy or anything like its not pure black people hair.. and i had this one straightner that would keep it perfectly straight for the ENTIRE day and maybe even a day later.. and I got a new one bc the other one was old.. and now MY HAIR GOES SUPER frizzy and i dont know why it most likely is the straightner but i need to know how to keep it straight its looks really good.. but not when its frizzy..

i never had a dad who taught me stuff like change the oil or how to fix a clogged toilet etc.

i wish i had one, and also so he could shoot me a couple of bucks now and then while i'm in school.

shlt, some kids have it so easy but i always had it hard.

Ok my son is now 2 1/2 years old. I really just want to call him a brat! When he doesn't get his way he throws a fit, he tells his father and I "no" all the time. I recently stopped taking the birth control pill Sept. 10. I got my period the 12th and ended the 15th. 2 weeks later around the 30th my husband and I ttc when I saw that I had egg white looking cervial fluid.
For about a week after that I had what felt like ovulation cramps. now my question is.. Is it possible that I really ovulated 2 weeks after stopping the pill, and how long will it take to get my period again? I'm already 4 days late and I was very regular before going on the pill a year ago. what are your experiences with coming off the pill. and when would a pregnancy test be accurate? thanks, any input would help

I am going in tomorrow to be induced at 6a.m. This is my first child, I am 39 weeks pregnant. There is nothing wrong, my doc just asked me if I wanted to electively come in this weekend because she was going to be in this weekend and at 39 weeks pregnant, I have that option at that hospital. Also, she stated that the last few times I went in to see her, my blood pressure has been kinda high. Well, today, I think I lost my "plug" so I was wondering all day if I was going to be able to even wait until tomorrow. No dice. Anyways.........what should I expect? How long is the labor when you were induced? I know it is different w/every story, just want some insight on what to expect. Also, did any of you have to have c-sections after being induced and thinking you were going to have a vaginal birth? If so, what happened that you couldn't have it vaginally? Experienced mothers please! Tell me your experience.

I need a good schedule for a 6-month old. What time to feed and put to bed and when do you try to start your mornings. We just went for 6 month checkup and she said that I need to have a schedule, I Guess that I probably should have already had one, but I didn't. She says that I need to start letting him cry himself to sleep and do not get up with him in the middle of the night. I don't really even know where to start. He does not nap longer than 45min 2-3 times per day, and the longest he has ever slept was 6 hrs and that has only been 3 times in his life. Please help!!!

Dateline, "To Catch A Predator?" I cannot believe some of the guys that go to meet these minors. One of them was the 48 year old head of a cancer research unit in a hospital. What's wrong with these people? I'm not a parent, but that's just scary to think that any child could be in that position...singled out by perverts like that. That's why I try to watch whatever my little brother is doing when he goes on the computer...he's only 12, so he's just starting to experience the "fabulous" world of the internet.

Is holding a 2 month old baby all the time going to spoil the child? It's hard to just leave your baby crying and unhappy, so it's tempting to hold and cuddle. My baby's pediatrician says you can't spoil a child until after 5-6 month, but my husband disagrees. Your thoughts?

It's an African folklore that when the youngest baby stand on thier head (on thier hands/feet with thier head on the floor) that the mother is pregnant. I have experienced this in my family, friends, and co-workers with thier children of all ages1-6. It never fails. I am wondering if you guys have noticed or heard of this as well? Sometimes my grandmother dreams of fish as an indicator of someone being pregnant in the family.

I AM PREGNANT WITH CHILD NUMBER 4 AND ON TUESDAY THE DOC TOLD ME MY CERVIX STARTED TO THIN OUT AND IT STARTED TO GET SOFT.I ALSO DILATED 1 CM SO FAR.

Today I thought I was going to go into labor but now I'm wondering if the baby just turned. Either way it hurt terribly bad. I have had a baby before and it did feel like a contraction but there was only one so I'm wondering if either the baby was breech and moved to where it should or vice cersa.
