My kids (ages 5 and 3) had a playdate yesterday with a 6-year-old friend. The kids had fun making mud pies and playing fort. Muddy toys ended up scattered all over the yard.

When it was time for the friend to go home, I gave the kids a 5 minute warning that it would be time to clean up and then friend would have to go home. In 5 minutes, I said it was time to clean up and gave specific directions of what kids should do to help clean up.

Kids kept playing. Despite several different approaches I took, kids did very little and complained a lot. The friend was the lead instigator of the complaints.

I got mad at my kids and scolded them. I walked the friend back across the street and told her that I expect her to help clean up when she comes to play, but did not force her to help finish the clean-up.

After friend was gone, I gave my kids a big scolding.

What do you do when kids' friends come over? Are they responsible to clean up at your house? What do you do with other people's kids

My husband and I are planning on conceiving soon. I will be 24 and a half when our first baby is born.

I work for a corporation where most of my female co-workers didn’t get married until their late 20’s.

All the women here had their first child in their 30’s. The youngest mom was 29 when she had her first child.

One woman told me I was crazy for thinking of having a baby at my age.

I am not the norm at my job because I am the only one having children in my 20’s.

How do I get over being an outcast at my job when everyone is an older mom?

as i say my last period started on the 3rd june but i did not actualy conceive until period after 20th june until my missed period (so any time from 20th june to 2nd july)

i did the first positive pregnancy test after i was a week late (10th july)

i had my first ultrasound on 19th july and the nurse said i was too early to pick anything up (though it was 6 and a half weeks from my last period) the told me to return on 3rd august

on the second ultrasound on 3rd august they said they still could not see an embryo but could see the sack that it would grow in and from measuring this said i was a normal 5 and a half week pregnancy (though it was 9 and a half weeks from my last period)

i dont understand how i can be can be only 5 and a half weeks with the pregnancy being calculated from my last period?

could it be that they are calculating it from the actual day i concieved rather than my last period (they did tell me pregnancy is always calculated from the last period)

...it was a bad break up...he didn't call me eversince then later he found out i was pregnant through a friend...i send him a text message saying i need to talk to him but he didn't call instead he responded a day after saying if we can fix things for the sake of the baby...i didn't respond at that time because i was still mad...that was a few months ago...i've never heard from him eversince...then later i found out that he already has a gf....if he is really concern about my condition and the baby...he should take the initiative and will find a way right? send a letter or send a friend or family member...even if i'm mad, if he calls i would definitely talk to him in a good way...but no calls, no messages....he is too scared to call me coz he is too guilty about the break up? what do u guys think?

please help!! i overheard my 4 year old daughter and my fiance's 5 year old son talking about playing a game that involved "privates". i, of course, freaked out and yelled at my daughter and had my fiance have a talk with his son. after finally settling down and talking about this situation with my daughter i found my fiance's son didn't actually see my daughter's private area but was close enough and the game was definitely inappropriate. i don't know what to do. of course i told her to never do this again and it's never ok to show someone her privates but i'm still concerned. does she need therapy or is this normal behavior? i guess i'm so upset cause i thought the kids were being supervised well enough to not do something like this. i'm distraught, please help!!

My friends mother constantly beats her daughter with a belt as a form of discipline. I think its rather stupid, why? because her daughter took the time to clean and wash and polish the bathrooms of her house, then what happens? she gets beat with a belt and yelled inappropriate things, the reason? her mother says " you ****** did it all wrong". her mother, is a very nice lady, she lets her daughter go to the movies, she pays for it, they go shopping and everything. but then, her mother gets sudden mood swings and starts yelling and hitting her with metal spoons, belts, sandals, sticks, cell phone chargers, and one time she almost through a laptop at her when her daughter was only 9!!!!! All her life she's treaten her daughter since she was 8 like an adult, saying really rude things and hitting her. she says its a form of discipline, i think not because it is against the law and is considered " physical abuse". she also suffers lots of emotional abuse (the daughter) and....

I have heard of reports many times of sonograms where the baby is seen crying in the womb and has all the characteristics of a cry, when the doctor tests the baby with noise or some type of disturbance. Sometimes I can feel what I know is not a kick, not hiccups (they are more different), but a light rhythmic movement in my belly where her head is and it feels as though she is crying. I pat my belly lightly and let her hear my voice and it calms down. Is this possible?

I'm 22 and I think I may be pregnant. What are ways that me and my fiance can deal with this unexpected surprise? We're not financially or emotionally ready for it. Was your unexpected baby a burden or a miracle?
