as i say my last period started on the 3rd june but i did not actualy conceive until period after 20th june until my missed period (so any time from 20th june to 2nd july)

i did the first positive pregnancy test after i was a week late (10th july)

i had my first ultrasound on 19th july and the nurse said i was too early to pick anything up (though it was 6 and a half weeks from my last period) the told me to return on 3rd august

on the second ultrasound on 3rd august they said they still could not see an embryo but could see the sack that it would grow in and from measuring this said i was a normal 5 and a half week pregnancy (though it was 9 and a half weeks from my last period)

i dont understand how i can be can be only 5 and a half weeks with the pregnancy being calculated from my last period?

could it be that they are calculating it from the actual day i concieved rather than my last period (they did tell me pregnancy is always calculated from the last period)

I know some one was pregnant for 11 months. She was pregnant, must have had a miscarriage, then became pregnant again without knowing ant of this was happening.

The calculating if by ultra sound can be a +/- 2 weeks size seems to be the main calculating. In many a doctor office.

Don't worry about when you conceived unless it is a question who the father is ...Some women will have periods all the way through the pregnancy never really knowing when conception is Some women will know the next day they are with child.

As for due dates the two week theory is always in place. A big baby because of size will throw of the due date ...So take a deep breath enjoy your pregnancy and gEt ready for a baby...

And the question you just ask is a good one for your doctor You
need to have him or her to explain how they came to the due date
Next time you see the doctor have questions for them the more the better and each time back take charge of your birth
The more you understand the better delivery will be
Good Luck and my best advice "STAY INFORMED"

your fertile days are 10-14 days after your period. So actually you conceived around June 17th.
Therefore the embryo is 5 and a half weeks old on August 3. No need to worry, everything is just right.

They use your last period as part of a "formula" to calculate when you conceived to tell how far along you are. You don't get pregnant on the first day of your last period! It's just a standard starting point.

This doesn't necessarily mean that you conceived on June, it could have been July. People conceive at different time, before and/or after periods.

Your doctor should be able to explain this better for you.

Congrats!!

That's just means you conceived way after your last period. The date method is just an estimate. You actually ovulate 2 weeks after your period, and sperm can live in your body up to 3 days before they reach the egg.

Maybe you conceived later in your cycle. Not everyone ovulates 14 days from their LMP. it's just a very lazy way of dating the pregnany. It came from the observation from some guy 40 years ago or something. My friend had only one possible date of conception and it was the day after she finished her period....3 days after she started !! When I was 22w5d (from LMP).. u/s said 24w6d...almost a whole month.

lots of women experience period like symptoms such as cramping and spotting but if ur actually flowing u need to see ur doctor right away this could be something serious such as a sickness because although many woman find they r preg and the test says yea the same hormone is present in uterine cancer and kidney infections u need to speak to ur obgyn.

You should have asked the doctor to explain this to you. That is what a doctor is for. To explain these things.
