He won't starve himself, first of all, so don't worry about that. Babies go thru phases of eating well and then seemingly not eating at all. Sometimes parents wonder how their child is surviving on the little they eat! It's ok that he's wanting his milk - it doesn't look like he's getting too much at all. If you're determined to have him eat more, try a variety of different foods that are age appropriate for him. He might just be a picky eater, too. Good luck!

Did your doctor tell you he is drinking too much milk? Milk is a good source for a child to get calcium, whether cow milk or other. Reports showed that children who gets lots of milk and dairy products while young have better bone growth.

Behaviorally - Put the food on the table with a small amount of milk in a glass (swallow). Tell him you can have more milk when you eat your veggies. When he does give him a little more. Next the meat, etc. DO NOT give him a full glass of milk. It is like have dessert on the table. He will eat the dessert and not the rest of the meal, right?

Children can go through a stage where they only want to eat one type of food. In time they will change to another and should eventually have a rounded meal.

Are all his foods pureed or strained? Maybe he does not like the texture or look.

IF your child does not like cooked veggies, give him fresh with dipping sauce. My one nephew liked Ranch dipping sauce, the other ketsup. But they did not like cooked veggies.

Be creative. At 15 months his tastes are just developing. You don't want to make a big deal of something that will resolve in time. Ask your physician, too, if you should worry.

Good luck

The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that whole milk is used until age 2. This is because it has fatty acids that are not in the 2%, 1% and skim milk. A child of that age should be getting approx 16 oz/day of milk and no more than 24 oz/day. This is most likely filling him up so he isn't hungry for regular foods. What you can do is offer the food first and then offer milk after he is done eating. Another culprit that causes the appetite to decrease is too much juice. He should only be taking in approx 4 to 6 oz of juice/day. Anymore than this can cause tooth decay and is just excess calories that may fill him up.

It can take 15 to 20 times for a child to be exposed to one food before they may even try it. Just keep offering many varieties of food because most childrens food preferences are established by age 2.

The suggestion to try soy milk is not a good idea because it has significantly less calcium than cow's milk.

Keep being persistant and you should do fine=)

Firstly, decrease the quantity of milk so that he will
feel like having solid. All kids would have choice towards the food which they need not chew much.
Slowly make drinking of milk only three times and check how he is eating. Only patience will help you to feed the solids. No short cuts. Good luck.

I had the same problem. I started giving my little girl ice in the milk so that it watered it down a bit. It also meant she wasnt getting as much milk so that she would eat more. Also try putting a little mashed fruit in the porrige to sweeten it a bit

My son, who would be 3 in some days, constantly had to have his milk at bedtime and can often awaken a minimum of as quickly as throughout the time of the night inquiring for milk. He, too, might often moist the mattress and we would finally end up being up for on the component of an hour interior the path of the night, changing sheets, diaper, pj's and getting yet another drink. whilst i grow to be pregnant with my 2nd (who's enormously much 14 wks previous), i desperate this insanity had to provide up! i began out filling the sippy cup up much less and much less, explaining that he did no longer go with an entire cup because it would make him pee and get moist lower back. After a pair of weeks, I purposely ran out of milk, so he had to have water. It worked!! we've provided that stated cavities and how he can shop his enamel healthful. He knows of it incredibly is substantial for him to sweep his enamel until eventually now he is going to mattress to get off all the airborne dirt and dirt and germs which may make his enamel sick and sore. He knows of that this includes having his milk until eventually now bedtime. I shop a tumbler of water beside my mattress and observed that he must be like Mommy. He keeps a sippy cup of water beside his mattress at night and could awaken, have a drink and circulate lower back to sleep without waking me. he's constrained to a million/2 a cup - he knows of that he could have greater interior the morning - and is now waking up dry interior the mornings. i assumed we would not at all destroy him of this habit and on a similar time as absolutely everyone seems to be different, i'm hoping this helps.
