The baby can't cry - it's lungs are filled with amniotic fluid......it may be upset, and you may be comforting it.......but no tears or noise in the womb.

According to my doctors a fetus cannot shed tears before 6 months of being born. I am 24 weeks pregnant and at times also feel rhythmic movements in my belly which are not kicks or hiccups, I think this sensation is my sons reflexes during his REM sleeping stage. Hope this helps as its such a terrible thought that your daughter is crying in your belly-good luck

It's possible for infants to cry in the womb. Whether or not that's what you're feeling, I can't say. The only way to know that would be to feel it during and ultrasound so you can see it too. But I will tell you that babies make all sorts of different movements in utero. When I was pregnant with my 3rd (he's 3 months now) I kept having dreams that I could hear him crying while he was in there. It was horrible. I wouldn't worry about it though. If anything, it tells you that you can meet all your baby's needs and sometimes they still cry so after that baby is born you shouldn't feel bad when she cries.

Obstetrician, professor Stuart Campbell at the Create Health Centre for Reproduction and Advanced Technology, has developed ultrasound technology to show astounding details of the child in the womb. The pictures available show the unborn child moving, crying, blinking and even smiling, and open up whole new areas of possibility for doctors and expectant parents.
*I don't know if that means they really have actual tears because how can you tell that with the womb being filled with fluid? So I think they can have the look of being upset.

A baby’s first cry may happen in the womb long before its arrival in the delivery room.
New research shows that fetuses may learn to express their displeasure by crying silently while still in the womb as early as in the 28th week of pregnancy.
Video-recorded ultrasound images of third trimester fetuses show that they appeared startled in response to a low-decibel noise played on the mother’s abdomen and display crying behavior, such as opening their mouths, depressing their tongues, and taking several irregular breaths before exhaling and settling back down again.
Researchers say the results show that crying may represent a fifth, previously unknown behavioral state for human fetuses. Previously recognized behaviors in unborn fetuses include quiet sleep, active state, quiet awake, and active awake.

Babies just like to move around in there. Quite a bit of new things, like fingers and noises from outside. The newest baby in our home used to 'have a temper fit' inside, kicking hard and such, if she couldn't get her thumb into her mouth. Actually watched her during a sono. It's good to talk to them while they're inside. The one thing that they find soothing once their outside is the sound of mum's voice. Pick up a story book and read it to the baby everyday. That wee one will recognize the story when they're in your arms.

Yes it is possible. Youa re feeling it. A mother knows. When I was pregnant with my youngest. I felt him crying, all the time during the last 3 weeks. I fell on the ice and did the splits. he was born with a broken foot. The doctors said it probably happened when I fell.

When I was 7 months pregnant with my twins, the sonographer was measuring "baby A's" head when "baby B's" fist came up and punched baby A in the nose. Baby A's face got all scrunched up before he opened his mouth in what looked kind of like a silent scream and then he kicked his feet out.

well if the baby is crying you wouldnt be able to hear it....since the babys lungs are full of fluid there wouldnt be any way for the baby to make any noises...there has to be air to make a noise....but yes i have heard that babys can cry...but silently...im not sure if you would be able to hear the baby cry but it would be a good question for the doc on your next appointment

Yes, they can cry... but it is only the action of crying (opening mouth, scrunching up face, getting tense) there are no tears or actual noise. But, they do have the emotional ability to cry (haven't you ever cried without tears and making noise? thats basically what they do)

Voice sound is made by air moving over the vocal cords.
Since an unborn baby has no air in it's lungs, it's impossible for it to make vocal sounds including crying.
Congrats on your pregnancy! Good luck!
