I recently had a my 3rd child...& I have all three children in DayCare. I have nothing against DC. I pay more $$$$. But I also work f/t, as well as my hubby. I hear alot of negative stuff towards a working mother that has to work for a living and having to attend a family and household. It amazes me how ppl can be so negative. I should be given credit to be a working mother and much more. I don't have the option of a SAHM, but I love what I do. Am I wrong to feel like ppl are just so ignorant towards a working mother?

Ok, here's the situation.

Everyone has started asking "So, what are some names you've picked out, your babe's due in 3 months!"

I tell them one or two of the names.

Then they proceed to tell me my child will be teased forever and ever because of the name, which happens to be original (my husband invented it).

Last time I checked my friend "Elizabeth" was teased, and was called "LizardBreath". Even common names get made fun of...

What makes the unusual name such a target? Much more, why do people actually think that by telling us our child will be teased, that we are going to take their word for it, and pick a different name?

I have two girls ages three and one (on August 15th). We are having to move because my husband is going to go back to school. We are going to be living in the married housing on campus (if he does distance education he gets distracted, we tried that). The city we are moving to is about an hour and a half away. My parents live in the same town that we live in now and my kids are used to seeing them at least 3 times a week. They also have always had their own rooms and they will have to share a room when we move. I need some suggestions on preparing my three year old for the move and the new surroundings? Also, what is the best way to have a three year old and a one year old share a room? Who should I put to bed first and how should I work naps and all that stuff?

During her first two and a half months of life, our baby would poop even 4 times a day, but now it does not seem close to happening.... my wife stopped eating milk-derivatives (cheese, milk, some breads, yogurt) but now the baby has gone 80 hours just passing gas but no stool.... Is this a sign of constipation, should we use another glycerin suppository?? We have talked to the doctor, and he said yes, but we used a suppository for the first time 80 hours ago and the baby had a stool, but we just dont want to make her grow dependent on that.

I feel like I always have a fairly good experience with the nurses while I'm in labor and delivery. But the nurses who take care of me and my baby afterwards always rub me the wrong way. Is this typical and does it happen a lot? They always seem pushy and not very understanding. Plus they always want to take my baby to the nursery and give them formula when I specifically say not too. Which has caused problems in the past. Then after making me stay in the hospital for what seems like forever, all at once they are rushing me to leave. I'm frustrated, and this is the biggest thing I'm not looking forward to during my upcoming delivery.

My daughter is turning two months old next week, is it too early to have her ears pierced? A friend told me that pediatricians now do it at their offices. Is that true?

My daughter will start Kindergarten in two weeks and she wants me to pack her a lunch instead of her eating in the cafeteria. I wondered if you guys may have some suggestions on things to pack for her. I know she will become bored quickly with the traditional sandwhich and chips!! Thanks for your help.

I really don't see any difference between Montessori and "play-based" pre-schools in my area. The Montessori schools, however, say there are some critical learning opportunities that are lost if a three year old doesn't start Montessori at that age. I tend to think that is a bunch of crap and just a way to play to some parents elitism or fears but.... What experiences have other parents had?

Like I said before I'm 18wks and hardly showing at all???? Just a little bit poochy down low, and sometimes it comes and goes, bigger at different times? Is that a bad sign. The last time I saw my doc at 16wks he said that's how far along I felt and things were going fine. I want to show before my baby shower at the beginning of Oct??? Thanks
