During her first two and a half months of life, our baby would poop even 4 times a day, but now it does not seem close to happening.... my wife stopped eating milk-derivatives (cheese, milk, some breads, yogurt) but now the baby has gone 80 hours just passing gas but no stool.... Is this a sign of constipation, should we use another glycerin suppository?? We have talked to the doctor, and he said yes, but we used a suppository for the first time 80 hours ago and the baby had a stool, but we just dont want to make her grow dependent on that.

Ok please axe that last answer... So your kid gets constipated switch em to formula? Um HELLO.. Formula is constipating!
If your doctor said give the supp, give the supp.. If your wife is still breastfeeding.. YOU the HUSBAND can make up a small bottle prune juice.. Do NOT let your wife give the bottle.. Baby expects only breast from mama..lol
Hard stool is constipation.. Giving a supp every so often is not going to start a dependency.. When the pipes start to get clogged you'll have to improvise with things like the prune juice, karo syrup, when baby is older applesauce ect ect...
Its also very common for their bm's to slow and get more spaced out.. The constant crapping is a typical nb thing.. they outgrow that pretty rapidly!
Good Luck!

I am gonna be very honest. My daughter had not pooped in about for days. I had gotten so concerned so I asked my mom and grandma what to do. They told me to get some light Karo syrup and put it in her bottle with some water (Not a whole lot just a little bit), so I did. Before my baby even finished her bottle she had pooped and I mean she pooped good. My grandma said back in the olden days, those were the things that they had to do. She raised 5 kids and they all turned out right. She has 13 grandkids and 4 great grandkids, and they are all fine. So I think that maybe u should try that. I guarantee u she will poop before u know it.

Our 5 week old is the dsame try this we do daily she cant poop on her own yet shes always constipated get a q tip and appkly some vaseline to the q tip and rub it around the babys bumb Honestly it is discusting as hell but it works every single time, also we have had to put a tablespoon of corn syrup in her bottles as well youll find is softens the stool and is one of the safest things to use without baby having to rely on it in the future

We had to do this with my daughter when she was little. But only because she is on a formula thickened with rice starch and rice is constipating. I would not let a baby go more than 3 days without a BM or she will be extremely uncomfortable.
Instead of using prune juice (with has many ingredients in it) we bought stage 1 prunes (which is just prunes and water) and watered it down in a bottle and gave her that. It worked very well without any funny ingredients her little belly could not handle.

Could be the change in the mother's diet (if she's breast feeding). Consult your doctor, don't use suppositories just yet. Try spoon feeding her water or if she drinks fruit juice try a little prune juice, it'll work within 30 mins - 1 hour.

Usually doctors don't recommend suppository for babies. Rather, just let baby's body run it's natural course. Give her a little bit of water now and then. That should help.

No! You might try inserting a little warm water in the rectum with a small bubble syringe if that doesn't work within about 30 minutes then take your baby to the Hospital or Dr. right away.

This happened to my first child. We changed formula, and had to use suppositories. Maybe she needs more water, or juice in her diet. You should talk more to your Pediatrician. I ended up nursing my 2nd child, and never had those problems. I hope she gets better, because it does cause stomach pain being constipated. Good Luck !!!!
