NO. Only a very small amount of pure juice would be allowed, and only to thin out hard poop. Make sure it is made by a baby food manufacturer as they make it with a cleaner process which is safer. Also realize that any amount of Juice given is less formula the baby gets. For example if she is eating 6 oz of formula every 4 hours, that means that if you give her 2 oz of juice then for that feeding, she will only eat 4 oz of formula. For this reason, you should only feed the baby 2 oz of juice the whole day. DO NOT water down the juice OR the formula, as this could lead to seisures. I hope this helps. And remember only do thhis to thin out hard poop.

NO. If your baby has any juice (watered down or not) it will fill him up and he won't be hungry for formula/breastmilk. Since juice has no nutritive value whatsoever, it's best to stick with formula or breastmilk since, at this stage, your baby is growing very quickly and getting all the nutrition he needs from this.

The AAP recommends not starting your baby on juice until 4 months of age, and even then, limiting it to 4 ounces per day. Most juice is just sugar water...plain and simple. With the exception of orange juice (which contains vitamin C and folic acid naturally) most juices have nothing to offer. They all contain vitamin c, but that's becuase the manufacturers add it to the juice to make the parents think they're giving their children something good.

If you think your baby might be thirsty between bottles/nursings, you can give him a *tiny* sip or two of water to wet his mouth/throat. Water, unlike sugary juice, won't fill him up, unless you give him a lot.

Wow loving all the answers!!!
No.. Why would they need juice?
Breast milk is a fluid.. Formula is made from water... If your 6 wk old is eating routinly every 2-3-4 hours then thats plenty..

You can kill your children giving them toooo many fluids.. Look it up yourself... Honest I can't remember the name of it but it has something to do with overloading your baby.. and it has the word water in it...

And cereal in their tummy? Geez people.. They are only babies for a very short amount of time.. Pretty soon you're not going to remember the very short time of sleep deprivation... I always think of selfish people when I hear of adding cereal to a bottle.. Its constipating and it fattens them up real quick.. Now if baby has reflux, then that's another story, its not being selfish, Its helping your baby stay comfortable!

No , only water or formula or breast milk. Water should not be neccessary , the baby should be allowed to fill up on formula or breat milk. Juice has a lot of sugar in it and is not good for the baby. Also breast milk or formula have more nutrition balanced exactly right for a baby. Juice may also cause the baby to have more gas pains and be crankier.

absolutely no juice, your baby's system is not fully developed, Nothing but formula or breast milk for at least 4 months. Some people give cereal before that, but it actually isn't digested, just passes through and can cause more harm than good. Mother nature knows what she is doing, just formula or breast milk period. Good luck, babies are a gift

Many alergies are caused by introducing foods, inlcuding fruit and juices before a baby's body is ready for it. Hopefully, you are nursing. The La Leche League is a good place for info on introducing new foods to an infant. They will advise you, whether you are nursing or not.

Good luck to you and your new baby!

No. It is way too early. My doctor told me that my daughter could not have that until she was 6 months old, and then only a small amount. If you give too much, their need for formula could go down, depriving them of the fat, calories and nutrients so necessary for brain growth and development.
