Ok, here's the situation.

Everyone has started asking "So, what are some names you've picked out, your babe's due in 3 months!"

I tell them one or two of the names.

Then they proceed to tell me my child will be teased forever and ever because of the name, which happens to be original (my husband invented it).

Last time I checked my friend "Elizabeth" was teased, and was called "LizardBreath". Even common names get made fun of...

What makes the unusual name such a target? Much more, why do people actually think that by telling us our child will be teased, that we are going to take their word for it, and pick a different name?

This is YOUR child - YOU get to choose - YOU are the one that will kiss him or her first - watch them try to crawl FIRST - watch them fall first -

Guess what - in the scheme of things what people think about your child's NAME isn't as important as SQUAT!!!

What is important is that you love your baby - more and more each day, and that you as a family are happy!!!

Love, light and laughter to your growing family!!!!

Look, just do what feels right. Kids get teased for everything these days. As long as the name has a meaning to you, and you let the child know that, it's fine. They may dislike it when they're young, but they'll grow into it. Don't worry what other people say. Be proud of the name you've chosen and go with it.

Well first of all congrats! How exciting. Picking out the name takes allot of time! You want the best name that is not too common, and a name that he wont get made fun of for. Well having both of those is impossible! My husband and I could not agree so we decided if it was a boy, he would pick out the name, and if it was a girl I would pick out the name no questions asked!

Well we had a boy and my husband picked out Collin Preston. I wanted a biblical name, but we did make a deal. I love it, and he looks like a Collin, We got ridiculed for the name, and family members suggested tons of other names. You created this perfect angel. She is your baby....You pick out the name. If you like the name go for it!

(My middle name is Elizabeth and I never got made fun of)

I think you should go with your own opinion if u like the name then take it, it is your child and not theirs. You cant try to protect your child from something that you THINK will happen. Maybe she/he wont be teased at all. Dont you think its better to pick a name you like thats unusual then a name you just picked out that EVERYONE has?

some people are just stupid! Name your baby what you want and try not o listen to others. The way I see it at some point, everybody gets teased about their name. All that matters is that you and your husband agree on and like whatever name you choose. No one else is having this baby but you!

First rule of pregnancy-don't tell anyone the name you have picked. We changed our first son's name so many times before he was born because of this. This time around, we didn't tell until she was born-it was a lot less stressful! Most people probably think they are being helpful, but you are right, every name can be made fun of!

I had the same problem before my son was born. If I was in this situation again....I wouldn't tell anyone the name. First of all, I don't understand why they even want to know. Everyone has an opinion on everything. Your baby's name is your choice and your decision. Don't let anyone change your mind because you wouldn't want to later regret it. Good Luck and God bless!

Come on , whats the names? Kids are very cruel, and everyone gets teased at one point or another. But,,,,, I feel that the name you give your child should come from your spirit concerning that child. What names did you come up with?

I have had 6 children. The best way to answar these people, I have found is like this: give them a horrible disgusting name. They will be too horrified to say anything. For example: I told them I was going to name my daughter Hermoine Esmerelda (pronounced her-MYKNEE) This way I could nickname her Hemmy-Emmy. I'm serious. You wouldn't believe how quickly the conversation came to a halt.
