If you had your first child after you turned 30, do you wish you started earlier to have children?

Why did you wait so long?

Looking back how do you feel about it?

My brother and his girlfriend are in the navy and live on the east coast. Everyone else in on the west coast. She is not having a baby shower because she doesn't know anyone where she is and we all can't get back there. So my mom and I were thinking of doing something here with all the family and friends. We were thinking of having everyone show up with their gifts unwraped so everyone can see and having a period in the shower where we wrap our gifts. We were also going to tape everything so that the mom to be can see everyone. Another idea we came up with is to take a picture of each guest with their wraped gift. We were wondering if this was a good idea and if anyone has ideas that we could use. My mom was going to pack all the gifts, photos, and the vedio and ship everything to the mom-to-be.

I am 19 and a mommy of (almost) 2 girls, their father was killed in Iraq when I was 2 months pregnant with our second. We never lived together, so I never experienced raising a child in a two parent household. Is it easier (compared to a single parent house)?

Many of my friends that have children say that their boyfriends/husbands don't really help them with the baby anyways and they cause more stress than anything. Is this true?

The "cry it out method" or Ferber Method is something I will not do with my baby. I have already tried it and it is an approach I am not comfortable with.

My husband and I want two children, three at the most. I want to be done before I am 30 for many reasons: be a younger mother, easier to conceive, lower chances of disabilities, etc.

We plan on getting pregnant next year when I am 24, the baby will be born when I am 25.

I have had a lot of people tell me that 25 years old is sort of young to just start having children, especially when I want to be done with pregnancies at 30.

I thought I was going to get crap for being too young at 25, not the other way around!

What do you think?

OK I didn't know my friend when she had her first and second babies. And I'd like to do something nice for her as I couldn't when the first two were born - so what is the ettiquette on baby showers for 3rds???

I do know that they don't really need anything, they have planted a tree in honor of each of thier children, and would like one for this new baby (due around labor day) -

So do I just throw her a party and tell folks this is for her and NOT a shower -

Do I throw her a traditioinal shower and ask that $$ be given toward the purchase of a tree for the new baby??

WHAT should I do - or even better what would YOU do???

My granddaughter is tall, blond and very beautiful, with naturally curly hair. She sings and plays violin. She is bi-lingual. She has a lot going for her: 3 sets of grand-parents to dote on her, happily married parents, both smart and responsible, and present in her life. Her parents constantly tell her she needs to use inside voice, use your words, calm down, etc. But, she screams at bugs, a scratch on her arm, or a broken cookie. A fall from her bike will send her into a hysterical fit, complete with sobs and hyperventilation.
When she visits me, about 2 times a week, I try to downplay her little hissies, and make light of her over-reaction. I tell her she "can take it," that she is tougher than she ever imagined. She looks at me as if I were from outer-space. I amazes me that she has so little confidence. It's as if her parents trying to protect her, and provide her a great life has made her insecure somehow. Is there anything to do for this "drama queen"?

My daughter is 4 1/2. She is having difficulty at preschool/daycare with hitting (kids & sometimes teachers). Any ideas in emphasizing proper use of hands? Discipinary action (e.g., loss of privileges) has been relatively ineffective. Granted, the environment may not be conducive for her, but no alternatives are available at this time. Regardless, my daughter needs to correct her behavior.

I mean, it's getting ridiculous. There are tons on here asking "Am I pregnant?" "Could I be pregnant?" "What are the chances I'm pregnant?" and I'm so tired of it. I know that this is a place to find answers, but we aren't doctors on here and none of us are walking pregnancy tests. These women come on here saying they have weird or irregular periods and the first thing that comes to their minds is "Am I pregnant?". Don't you all know that your period could be irregular because of your diet, sleeping habits, etc.? And if they truly think they are pregnant, why don't they get a test or go to the doctor? Now I know some women are serious on here and are truly looking for answers, but aren't you sick of the women who come on here asking questions like that without thinking it all the way through yet?

i never get to be anywhere alone with my b/f and we love each other to death! we've been going out for almost 7 months. it feels like a year! anyways wenever he gets to come over to my house, we can't stay home alone, we have to leave the door wide open if we go in my room, same way at his house, we have to leave the door wide open. it gets on my nerves. we are good kids and our parents know we won't have sex. they say it doesn't look right. we can't even lay on my bed or his bed even with the door open! all my friends get to lock their bedroom doors with their b/fs and g/fs and they DO have sex!!!!!!!! we both can't drive yet so i guess we just have to wait till we get older to spend alone time. either his lil sis or my lil sis is always spying on us and bothering us!

I pay $20 a day for a full time sitter (at her house), she is great with kids, does a lot with my child (outside, park, with her to run errands and sometimes to school events for her kids), and even though I pack a lunch and snacks, of course my child ends up eating some of their food anyway. I feel $20 is hardly enough for all of this, what do you think about raising it to $25 a day? Too much, or perfect? (Local daycare charges $32 a day, all food provided, for 2 year old.)
