My husband and I want two children, three at the most. I want to be done before I am 30 for many reasons: be a younger mother, easier to conceive, lower chances of disabilities, etc.
We plan on getting pregnant next year when I am 24, the baby will be born when I am 25.
I have had a lot of people tell me that 25 years old is sort of young to just start having children, especially when I want to be done with pregnancies at 30.
I thought I was going to get crap for being too young at 25, not the other way around!
What do you think?

I'm guessing you're from the South. Generally speaking in heavily urbanized areas most people don't plan to have kids until their late 20s at the earliest. So 25 is kind of early.

25 years old is not late, especially not in this day and age. Maybe 40 years or more ago. But now many women are waiting until they are educationally and financially stable. A lot of women aren't starting until their 30's. Don't let anyone tell you you're too young or too old. Having a child is a personal decision nad only you can decide when you're ready. I know people that intentionally get pregnant at 19 and 20 and are successful parents as well as women who are 40+ and are still successful parents. Its an individual decision. Best of luck in getting pregnant when YOU are ready.

i think the age you are starting at is perfect! you may not be able to have three kids by the time you are 30(you will want to let your body have enough time to rest between pregnancies, as well be able to enjoy each kid individually), so you might want to give yourself until you are 32.
i understand where you are coming from though, because i had my son when was only 18(got married at 17, pregnant one month later, and delivered when i was 18). that is actually a bit young, but i think it is great now that he is two, because i can do a lot with him. going outside to run around, taking him to the beach, and even help him set up a tent in his room is not too much for me--where as if i were 40, i'd probably be a bit tired. lol.
good luck to you and your husband! :-)

Well if 25 is old, then the fact that I'm 31 having my first child makes me ancient. Actually I'll be 32 when the baby is born in January 2007. :-)
I did try to start when I was 29, but no one can plan down to a science on when they will get pregnant. At least I couldn't, and believe me I tried everything to get pregnant sooner.

My husband and I were married at 20 and had our first at 25. The second came at 32 (it took fertility drugs, so it took a while) and third came as a surprise at 35. I will my first two had been closer together, but it worked out to God's plan, not mine (remember that). No, I don't think you're too old, you're actually right at the perfect age. We are more patient as we get older and more stable in life. 2 or 3 by the time you're thirty? You're braver than I am, but if God can bless you with it, go for it! Good luck and God Bless.

I had my first baby at the age of 23 and my second baby at the age of 33. I think you should have one any time. The decision is yours and your boyfriend. Don't let other people scare you about having a baby. A person should be ready by the age of 25,but if they are responsible enough to have a baby. I say go for it and good luck.

Actually, at 25 your body is just becoming fully mature (give or take a year). 25 is the beginning of optimal childbearing years. You're pretty much starting at the right time. 23, my age, was too young to start, but I have a perfectly healthy baby anyway. 35 is too old to start, from a medical standpoint, but that's about as far as that goes.

I hope not. I'm 27.
It's ridiculous to say 25 is old when people are having kids in their 40s! If you want to be done by 30, you'll just have a baby every two years.

I was 26 when I had my first. Most of my son's friends' mothers are the same age as me. I would think that anywhere from 25 to 35 would be average for starting a family.

I think that is a good idea to plan your pregnancy. Make sure your financially stable, and in good health. I just had a son at 27 and everything is going great I had my first when i was 15 so planning is easier and no thats not too young especially since you know in your heart whats best for your famiy. Good Luck!!

I think you are about the right age. Your children will be out of high school before you are 50, and you should be mature enough by now to raise children in a good environment. Just remember be a parent and not a friend to your child, with the goal of someday being your child's friend when they are in their 20's. Hope this helped.
