My brother and his girlfriend are in the navy and live on the east coast. Everyone else in on the west coast. She is not having a baby shower because she doesn't know anyone where she is and we all can't get back there. So my mom and I were thinking of doing something here with all the family and friends. We were thinking of having everyone show up with their gifts unwraped so everyone can see and having a period in the shower where we wrap our gifts. We were also going to tape everything so that the mom to be can see everyone. Another idea we came up with is to take a picture of each guest with their wraped gift. We were wondering if this was a good idea and if anyone has ideas that we could use. My mom was going to pack all the gifts, photos, and the vedio and ship everything to the mom-to-be.

sounds like you have the perfect idea already! Good for you for thinking outside the box. I'm sure the mom-to-be will be thrilled to receive the gifts, video and pics. While recording the video, let everyone say something to her (holding their gift) wishing her well and one small piece of advice from the experienced mom's (if this is her first). She'll love it!

I think that is a great idea! And so kind! I like the idea of taking a photo of everyone with their gift and sending everything to the mom to be. It would be cute to have each guest sign a guest book with their thoughts and wishes for the new family.

Wow! how nice of you guys. I think that a video would be best. Just make sure it is in a format that she can play at home. (converted to a full size vhs tape or dvd) And instead of just sending her photos, make a scrap book out of it and have everyone sign it. This sounds like such a good idea. Good luck!

What a nice idea..I'm sure she will love it. I would go with the idea to tape the shower...then she can watch the whole thing. And yes, there will be many new things she will need...how thoughtful of you and your family.

sounds good although it might be chaper on the shipping end to send gift cardsto the babysrus store or order online off of her registry
