I am trying to see if there is any coverage of this event in any campaign news, but haven't found any yet. I am not sure why this wouldn't have been reported if she killed a guy and is running for president? Maybe it's because of the liberal media?

Unfortunately, most Americans do not consider Iraqis as people. We see them as terrorists or victims, not as everyday people with the same values as our friends, neighbors and relatives. Yet, most Iraqis are decent human beings with the same concerns, dreams, and compassion as most Americans. They want peace and are concerned about their fellow man.

Is it no wonder that we feel differently about the people of Iraq, when the American media only reports sensational news? If it doesn’t bleed or explode, you just aren’t going to see it on the evening news. I received a press release from Baghdad today, which I know the mainstream media will not pass on to you all. Here is an example of Iraqi charity and gratitude which touched my soul. Imagine how incredibly generous these soldiers are. They have little to support their own families. It’s not enough that they are fighting daily to bring peace to their country. They are actually reaching out to help unfortunate Americans.

A news crew showed up and the "leaders" of the American Legion (at my post) talked as if they supported the Iraq war "But" after the news crew departed and everyone went inside and had a cold beer the leaders said "We really didn't mean to say we supported the war but if we told the truth the main headquarters at the Legion would be all over us and turn us inside out". so I ask...."How could the leaders (Officers) sell out like that? Are they afraid of the truth?

On a museum that will commemorate the sixties, including Woodstock, when the gov't throws away around $70 Billion a year in Iraq?

To me, a museum in New York state is worth a lot more than our ongoing, unending military conflict in Iraq. Even if it is a "hippie" museum. Woodstock was an important event, just like Plymouth Rock is important. It's a part of our history and we should remember it, regardless if you disagree with the politics of those that were there. The museum could be paid for by cutting a fraction of one contract in Iraq.

And in any case, private donations are providing the majority of funds for that museum anyway.

Most people only think of the income tax and possibly Social Security when talking about who pays what. All the supply side dunderheads that point to the upper this % pays that % of taxes and the bottom half doesn't pay and they get a free ride blah, blah, blah. Well they never mention all the sales taxes and property taxes (renters pay their landlord's property taxes) and gas taxes etc. It's just income tax this or that. They also don't mention that State and Local taxes have increased to make up for cuts in Federal spending at those levels. They don't mention that dividends and capital gains are taxed at 15% while middle class couples pay almost 33% including Social Security contributions. Remember, there's no Social Security taken out of UNEARNED income. Since the Reagan tax overhaul, the Social Security payments that were suppose to be put away for the baby boom generation were, as you prefer, either spent in lieu of income tax receipts or rebated to the upper 1% as tax cuts.

Soldiers are returning from this hell, with no legs or arms, and orphans are being created daily.....

WASHINGTON, Oct. 30 — President Bush lashed out at Congress today, the third time he has done so in two weeks, this time saying the House had wasted time on “a constant string of investigations” and the Senate had similarly wasted its efforts by trying to rein in the Iraq war. Its failure to send a single annual appropriations bill to his desk, he said, amounted to “the worst record for a Congress in 20 years.”“Congress is not getting its work done,” the president said in brief remarks from the North Portico of the White House.

He urged Congress to act on defense-funding legislation and on a compromise on the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, or S-CHIP.Representative Nancy Pelosi, the House speaker, responded sharply to the president’s criticisms.

“The president calls Congressional oversight that has uncovered tens of billions of dollars in waste, fraud and abuse in Iraq a ‘waste of time.’

....the pop swells to the carry capacity of the petri dish....then more nutrients are introduced and the pop swells to 4x that size, then the outside nutrients are removed. What happens to the population? In our case, the extra nutrient is oil and how we can use it. As the oil is withdrawn (imminent declining oil supplies), what happens to our population? Famine is a natural response to declining food supplies and we are about there. Pop quiz ***hole, what do you do, now?
