A news crew showed up and the "leaders" of the American Legion (at my post) talked as if they supported the Iraq war "But" after the news crew departed and everyone went inside and had a cold beer the leaders said "We really didn't mean to say we supported the war but if we told the truth the main headquarters at the Legion would be all over us and turn us inside out". so I ask...."How could the leaders (Officers) sell out like that? Are they afraid of the truth?

I guess they are "afraid of the truth," if the truth is that main headquarters of the Legion does not respect independent thought and free speech. Perhaps they just value getting along with the Legion as a whole more than taking a public stand against war.

Obviously, "the main headquarters" supports the war - and the troops and their mission.

Do they not support the troops as well? IMO the AL & VFW have been silent far too long in their support of the war. After all these people were in the military & some actually fought against our enemies. Anyone who doesn't see the Islamic-Extremists as enemies needs a reality check.
