I've seen numerous people make the argument that welfare is morally acceptable because people NEED things like food, shelter, and medical care. They go on to say that if they can't afford these things on their own (usually due to an oppressive society rather than poor life choices) then it is the government's responsibility to provide it, utilizing the tax dollars of the more affluent. Okay, so why don't we then tax the poor 100% instead of 0%? Every dollar that they spend on something other than the necessities is a dollar that will eventually come out of my pocket. So let's take every penny they make, and then give it back to them as food stamps, housing, etc. No beer. No movies. No cable television. Your money will be spent wisely on the things you actually need so as to minimize the burden on your fellow man. Anybody see any problems with this arrangement?

"We will make NO destinction between terrorists and those who harbor them"

Was harbor the confusing word to a Liberal? I can help you settle this issue with a dictionary.

Simple question and you know exactly what I am talking about (at least I hope you do... Hmmm... is it really a mental disorder…?)

Anyways, the winner gets 10 points!!!

The obvious question: If W is so pitifully stupid, how
was he able to defeat Democrats in 2000 and 2004? What
does that say about the Democrat candiadates?

Democrats are no longer focusing on bringing the troops home, they are only passing bills, "updating" the Bush policies in Iraq (contractors etc.). They have nothing to show for the earlier tough anti-war rhetorics. Will this hurt or help them in 2008 elections?

Is it just me or are these answers really bizarre? The playground mentality has really progressed on this site. Neocons have become liberal, Republicans have gone liberal. If all of you have turned liberal, I'm going to conservatism.

Is it possible that all of this infighting and juvenile name calling is keeping us from discussing and coming up with a solution for REAL PROBLEMS?

Just curious, I have a theory that there are millions in this country who are Christian, who love Jesus Christ as their lord and savior, and consider themself to be liberal.

Apparently theres a stereotype that all liberals are Jesus haters who hang out at gay orgies.

I'm wondering by the answers to this question if there are Christians who are liberal.

---

As an atheist, I don't hate Christians, I just don't share their world view
People are going to belief whatever they want regardless my belief.

Thanks.

To win, you must state facts to back up your assertion...like the names of the wars that country has been in or started or the times it has attacked other countries. You can even mention the number of times said country has threatened other countries if they did not do exactly what they were told.
I look forward to great well thought out answers.

Please note I am not naming a country.....nor am I insinuating one. If you think I am, its only in your own mind. So leave me out of it. I just want to know who you think is the most war like country on the face of the earth.

Is this the reason they scooped every US intelligence agency? Or is this something else? Maybe a personal and private propaganda agency.

Though opposed to the war herself, Pelosi has for months been a target of an antiwar movement that believes she hasn't done enough. Cindy Sheehan has announced a symbolic challenge to Pelosi in California's 8th Congressional District. And the speaker is seething.

"We have to make responsible decisions in the Congress that are not driven by the dissatisfaction of anybody who wants the war to end tomorrow," Pelosi told the gathering at the Sofitel, arranged by the Christian Science Monitor. Though crediting activists for their "passion," Pelosi called it "a waste of time" for them to target Democrats. "They are advocates," she said. "We are leaders."

That debate yesterday, it seemed like every ten minutes someone was saying "I'm just like Ronald Reagan".

I think theres a danger to putting another senile old man in the white house. I think thats why John McCain's numbers have gone down.

Note to Republicans: Stop saying you wanna be like the Gipper ok guys!

I hear they were used in New Orleans during Katrina recovery. Maybe they can be our internal emergency disaster response/crowd control contractor that is sent here in the USA to make sure looting does not occur in certain situations or to keep unruly protestors under control. They would be better experienced than police and be much more efficient.

The content editors at yahoo have always been dishonest leftists. This is merely further proof.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071010/ap_on_re_us/public_private_schools

From the article: "While the finding is in line with a handful of recent studies, it's AT ODDS WITH A LARGER BODY of research over the years that has found private-school students outperform those in public schools. Some of that research found a private-school advantage even when income levels are taken into account.
However, the new study not only compared students by income levels but also looked at a range of other family characteristics, such as whether a parent PARTICIPATES in school life"

So this study essentially gets the same results as otherr studies that ACTUALLY say that private schools kick-butt, BUT they throw in an extra constraint on the data that relates to PARENT PARTICIPATION which has absolutely NOTHING to do with public versus private.
