Wow, that would be a complete mess. I suppose it depends on how far into Kurdistan that their troops advance. If they try to advance into it more than is necessary to target the rebel camps on the border, the Kurds as a whole may very well fight them. It would be difficult to imagine the fledgling Iraqi army getting involved, so that war would probably finalize Kurdistan's secession from Iraq.

This whole region has been at war, more or less for several thousand years, There are so many different cultures, religions, beliefs and factions. Fights over religion. Or over where a border lies. Or over if one region should rule it's self, or even if the region exists at all.. Fighting for the rights to return to land, their families fled, during another war centuries before. Now in mordern times Oil has been added to the Mix.
Will the US fight, not sure.. i Think the US have bases in Turkey don't they??......
Each of these countries have attacked or invaded each other many times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_East
the borders have moved a few times even in recent history.

relies upon on your view of Terrorism. I cost the PKK as freedom warring parties, noticeably as Turkey has made no actual efforts to handle the grievances. As for invading Iraq, I doubt they might do it because it might added destabilise Iraq and that they probability the wrath of the people.

No Turkey is on our side, more or less.
This is actually a very good thing for the US. Its not only another ally getting involved (when so many others are backing out) but its a largely muslim country taking a stand against terrorism.
This is a big deal.

The Kurds - possibly with covert arms from the US
justin_I - the Kurds are our allies too -- BETTER than than the Turks who are in it PURELY for US dollars. And the Kurdish region is Iraq's most peaceful area.
