Even conservative pundit George Will and Nation editor Katrina vanden Heuvel--agreed that the whole thing was absurd. "What is the signal we're supposed to get from the flag?" asked Will. "It is either that I'm patriotic, and we take that for granted in this country, or that everybody who isn't wearing it isn't patriotic, and that's disgusting."

On ABC World News with Charles Gibson (10/4/07), the anchor opened a report: "Candidates face so much scrutiny these days. And it's not just their position papers and stump speeches that are fair game. Case in point: something of a controversy that has erupted involving Democratic Sen. Barack Obama and a lapel pin."

Actually, if candidates' "position papers and stump speeches" did receive serious and probing attention from the press, attention spent on frivolous issues like Obama's missing pin wouldn't be so distressing.

Since Clinton shrank the government, and balanced the budget, why didn't conservatives ever give him a chance, prior to his perjury?

The only way to fix our government is too stop putting the same people in the offices !

Our country can not afford to stay on the Bush/Clinton cycle.

Put aside the partisanship stuff , and lets change our country back to what it was meant to be !

Most of the mothers getting abortions are usually lower class. if they have the baby, the mother who has not enough income can abuse the welfare system, taking thousands of dollars in taxpayers money. the baby could be unloved and therefore more likely to become a violent criminal causing much more harm than if the child wasnt born in the first place.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton pushed back against criticism from fellow Democrats that she is too polarizing to unite the country as president, arguing that the political battles she has been through make her uniquely equipped to bring the nation together and build a centrist governing coalition.

In an interview aboard her campaign bus, Clinton (N.Y.) acknowledged that she has contributed to the divisive politics of the past decade but said she has learned from those experiences. She said that if she becomes president, she will attempt to assemble a broad, centrist coalition on such key issues as health care, energy independence and national security.

There was once a time when Americans meant "live free or die" but what has happened to that? I can't believe we know live in an America where we choose to limit our freedoms and privacy to prevent "terrorist attacks". Protecting our people obviously is imporant but the need for Bush's warrantless wire tapping, torturing at secret military prisons and limiting of our freedom of speech is non-existent. Also, the thought of cencering things because it might upset others makes me cringe. Everyone says they love freedom but when the time comes to defend it, we do nothing. The war in Iraq isn't protecting us, it is making Bush's pockets more fat. It's completing Bush's selfish and what I consider evil agenda. Yes, I consider Bush to be evil.

After surviving the streets of Chicago, I just don't know how to live day by day in dire fear of others. I don't consider myself invincible. I just deal with situations and move on.

Why can't the far right live without peddling fear?

or... because we don't torture them as harshly as they torture us "it's ok"?

this is the refrain that conservatives keep repeating...

why do conservatives keep talking about "moral relativity" in the liberal party and as soon as terrorists attack they sink to the enemy's level because "they're doing it too"?

these are the same kinds of things Reagan chastised the Soviets for... secret prisons... torture... and now you just don't care if it's right or wrong anymore because you're afraid and feel threatened?

would you do away with all your freedoms to be safe? yet you say we're fighting for our freedoms?

there is inherent risk with freedom... conservatives seem less and less willing to live with that risk... the more you cut the risks the more you infringe on the freedoms our forefathers died for...

China doesn't have many terrorist attacks... but I don't like the price they pay for it...

The countries name is China. Not the Peoples Republic of Communist China.
Does this show the ignorance of the right in America?
Maybe it would better for the world to add a countries political agenda before the name.
If so America would always be referred to as Imperialist America.

The Dems now want to risk losing our most important middle east ally so that the Armenians can have closure. And you have noticed that congress has a lower approval rating than Bush, right? I thought I'd be voting Obama, but I guess the only hope we have is to vote republican.
