There was once a time when Americans meant "live free or die" but what has happened to that? I can't believe we know live in an America where we choose to limit our freedoms and privacy to prevent "terrorist attacks". Protecting our people obviously is imporant but the need for Bush's warrantless wire tapping, torturing at secret military prisons and limiting of our freedom of speech is non-existent. Also, the thought of cencering things because it might upset others makes me cringe. Everyone says they love freedom but when the time comes to defend it, we do nothing. The war in Iraq isn't protecting us, it is making Bush's pockets more fat. It's completing Bush's selfish and what I consider evil agenda. Yes, I consider Bush to be evil.

Very far from being a liberal. I'm probably the more conservative than anyone who has posted here.

It does seem to be a trend doesn't it? We want to "protect our freedoms" by limiting them. The gay marriage "debate" demonstrates this foolish approach. You don't "protect marriage" by denying it to people. It's just the fear based politics of today I'm afraid. The disappearance of the fourth amendment which is basically gone now is creepy. And for what? So someone nervous twit can feel a little better. Please, we stopped being the leader of the free world long ago.

Well, I ask the same question only I do not cite the Patriot Act as indicative of the problem. Instead we should ask ourselves, why are so many people sitting around just waiting to be offended by something someone says? When did we start embracing the idea that we are helpless children that need a Washing DC based nanny to care for our needs? When did we decide it was acceptable to have children out of wedlock? When did we confuse the terms "freedom" with "license"? When did we start confusing the terms "tolerance" with "acceptance"? When did we grant the Federal Government powers the Constitution specifically reserved to the states and the people themselves?

These are the sorts of questions real Americans should be lamenting about. Not wiretapping terrorists.

I agree with you completely. While we supposedly fight to protect our Freedom.... and to bring Freedom to others. We are actually losing that which makes us America. This isnt anything new. Go ahead and read some speeches made by Presidents before the Vietnam War.... we were supposedly liberating them too. Do not pay any mind to the People on here who refuse to see reality.

speak for yourself i've had my *** kicked by the cops many, many times defending our rights... maybe if you spent more time in the streets with people like me and encouraged others to do the same, you wouldn't feel so disempowered... in fact, maybe if you did all that we'd win.

Will the brainless twaddle coming from the Left never cease? It's hard to take boobs who cry about "cencering" things very seriously.
