It is legit and the con has since corrected himself, but just to prove how thorough I am, here is the quote straight from the handwritten letter he wrote and that is stored in the Library of Congress.

The last three lines of this page say:
"is a politic measure and a practicable one. Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the higher portions or property in"

The first line of this next page says:
"geometrical progression as they rise. Whenever there are in any country"

"The property of this country is absolutely concentred in a very few hands, having revenues of from half a million of guineas a year downwards... "

"I am conscious that an equal division of property is impracticable. But the consequences of this enormous inequality producing so much misery to the bulk of mankind, legislators cannot invent too many devices for subdividing property, only taking care to let their subdivisions go hand in hand with the natural affections of the human mind. Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the higher portions of property in geometrical progression as they rise. Whenever there is in any country, uncultivated lands and unemployed poor, it is clear that the laws of property have been so far extended as to violate natural right. The earth is given as a common stock for man to labor and live on."

The wars in Afghanistan & Iraq cost a lot of money.
They have to be paid for some how.
In the past when the USA went to war it did a number of things to pay for it from raising taxes to selling bonds

This administration seems to be tax cuts and borrowing from foreign governments to pay for the wars.

It seems to me that if they are so interested in these wars they should be willing to pay for them out of there own pocket.

If Bonds where sold to US citizens at least then the debt would at least then be owned by US citizens.

Taxes will have to be paid one way or the other to pay for these wars (occupations) whether we borrow from other nations or sell bonds (borrow) from US citizens.

Those who made war material should be paid enough to pay good wages (NOT EXCESIVE PROFITS) (SOME OF THESE WAR PROFITEERING MERCENARIE COMPANIES ARE MAKING MAYBE HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS AT US CITIZENS EXPENSE) More taxes

War profiteering should be a crime that imposes severe punishment for Management

Does anyone really have an answer to this, or is it just a statement used as a fear tactic, to keep our troops overseas and keep the wars going?

Why do so many people believe the whole "they hate us for our freedom" statement, especially if no one knows the specific answer of who "they" are and what particular freedom of ours they "hate"?

Whether you want to admit it or not in China somewhere there are children and women and men who worked 10-16 hrs. today so that U.S. citizens can buy their kids a cheap lead painted toy and these people that worked so that we can buy these products make less money in a day than that toy costs!!

Essentially all Americans who buy Chinese and other countries who are in this crazy system's products are involved in the enslavement of the world's poor laborers!

Can you face this honestly and realize that we need to address how we are going to change this?
It is disgusting and is destructive to humanity!

We need to adopt fair business labor regulations and environmental standards with countries that we do business with.

Or end our business with them.

What do you think?

Proposing higher taxes on cigarettes to pay for healthcare, has got to be the most stupid idea or the biggest scam I have ever heard. Forcing the proposed tax discourages the consumer to smoke in the first place because cigarettes are so costly, smokers are being forced to quit. Secondly the Clintons were the very ones who instigated lawsuits against the tobacco industry in the first place, calling it a drug and a big conspiracy by the cigarette manufacturers to sell more cigarettes. That forced the sale of cigarettes down. They helped put the bad name on cigarette smokers we see today. The whole country is banning smokers from public and I hear NY is trying to ban smoking in private apartments. Last but not least we have smokers who WANT to quit for health reasons and if the government has their way smoking will be banned altogether. I ask you, how is cigarette tax going to pay for healthcare?
