as an Englishman who is currently in the USA on business i feel i must ask this.
In my opinion the Americans are making great strides to rid themselves of this image, most of the cities have a improving infrastructure and recreational facilities.
I think in 10 years time the world will look at the USA more favourable than the poor cousin.
Anyone agree?

Can't a deserter declair that any war is "immoral"
Is it possible for any free society to maintain a standing army, if soldiers are allowed to decide which orders they will obey?
Can we even retain an ordered society, if each citizen can decide which laws they will obey, and which ones they will ignore?
Are courts qualified to decide which war or which orders are moral, and which are immoral?

Congress is still hanging at 14% but the President jumped up considerably over the last poll to 39%.

Seems like people are holding the demoncrats responsible for the mess America is in, and more believe that Bush is doing what he was hired to do.

Think about it..

Stupid people tend to travel in large groups, and in a democracy the majority rules so where does that leave this country when the majority is uneducated and ignorant?

Up s*** creek without a paddle, that's where.

A U.S. born communist was codenamed "Liberal" by the USSR. "Liberal" gave U.S. nuclear bomb documents to the USSR. With the documents the USSR was able to build nuclear bombs. Years later, the Cuban missile crisis took place.

I often hear people say that Bush is the reason there has not been another terrorist attack since 9/11. I don't know if I believe it. Your thoughts?

For example, when Reagan died, I heard several Democrats calling him a terrorist and a moron when if he was alive, they would not have the courage to say that to his face. And then, they make fun of Jerry Falwell also, when he died. I didn't agree with Falwell on many things, but to make fun of a dead man is disrespectful. Then, Ann Coulter made fun of Lizzie Edwards because of her cancer. It is sickening that people degrade others like this because of different political ideologies when the person is probably a coward that attacks the weak or already dead.

If you found yourself in a hole in between jobs and had to choose between signing on the dole or working in MaccyD's as a stopgap what would you choose?

Proponents of low skilled immigration claim we "need" immigrants to do these jobs, as British people wont' "do" them and would prefer to sign on. This is untrue.

My other half worked in MaccyD's for quite a while when he first came to Wales and was looking for a "proper" job - to him it was a matter of pride. He hates claiming benefits and prefers to work even if its crap work.

Plus

1) a crappy job is better money than dole - 40 hours at £5.35 ph = £200-ish per week + tax credits. Dole is £57 per week.

2) Its always easier to get a job when you already have a job. Even a crap one.

3) Even a low status, burger-flipping job looks better on your CV than *gaps* in your employment history, and provides some basic "skills" (customer service, cash handling etc) which you can dress up.

What would you do?

why is it that communists and other leftists claim that communism never existed in eastern europe? with this logic, you can say capitalism never existed in america, thus discrediting the blame that leftists put on the "capitalist machine"(america). i think capitalism exists in america to some extent(we still have government schools without vouchers, abusive teacher unions, welfare programs, income tax(which actually lowers gov't revenue), and sometimes affirmative action), but i also think communism existed in eastern europe.

I have no jokes for anyone who is sick. It SHOULD transcend political parties.

candidate that has no experience? While I will admit the the President is not the best dressed, or most charismatic, or well spoken, he did lead one of the largest states. And yes thompson, etc have no experience per say, but Guliani and Huckabee do. What experince do the Dems have in that regard?
