The New York Times and Washington Post often print things that are politically divisive, but they have a long tradition of checking their facts and trying to make a relatively neutral accounting.
As with any human endeavor -- there will always be some bias.
But, using those, plus a few other sources, can give you a broad picture that should provide sufficient perspective. Don't go with just one source -- read two or three different reports of the same incident.

NY Times - credible news source
NY Post - Murdoch-owned right-wing garbage
Interestingly, Washington, DC also has a Post and Times. In that case:
Washington Post - credible news source
Washington Times - Moonie-owned right-wing garbage

New York Post: Yellow journalism
New York Times: credible source for information.
Fox News: Comedy relief for the Conservatives or chronically dull. IAs if there is a difference.

The NY Times/Post is a socialist organization. I personally don't read it because it is so biased. It doesn't really matter which paper you read, the most important thing is to draw your own conclusions and make your own assessment of what is being reported. Do research for facts if you want to know the real truth.

The Times. The Post is not nearly as good. I love the Times.

NY Times really leans towards the left now. I've heard it referred to as NY Crimes or the Lib Bible.

there are none in my opinion, but you would enjoy just about all of them due to the mostly fictional liberal content. subscribe to several, they all need the money, they're hagging on by a thread.
