as an Englishman who is currently in the USA on business i feel i must ask this.
In my opinion the Americans are making great strides to rid themselves of this image, most of the cities have a improving infrastructure and recreational facilities.
I think in 10 years time the world will look at the USA more favourable than the poor cousin.
Anyone agree?

America is three trillion in debt... Its owned lock stock and barrell by the Federal reserve who are a private company. They now have the power to manipulate Americas politics. If they call in the loans America would be the most bankrupted nation on the planet. Thats why their stealing oil just to keep the billions of dollars coming in just to pay the interest. America on paper is the poorest nation in the world its just the false economy that keeps the American dream alive.
Time is closing in when the chips will be counted and America is living on borrowed money and borrowed time..

The wrong side of the road comment ...
The reason people drive on the right in the UK because Knights lowered their lances as they passed each other..

Go back in history further than that for a precedent whos right I will be amazed

I visited New York last September and was shocked to see how little progress had been made in the years since Britain chose to leave the colony to its own devices. Yes there were plenty of tall buildings (a little bit like a smaller version of Dubai) but beyond that most of the populous seem resigned to a continuing decline - the lack of continuous electricity supplies is one of a growing number of concerns. Perhaps some sort of charity music gig could be arranged to assist.

Look, by writing sarcastic remarks like that you're just making your own countrymen look bad. If you are in our nation then you should respect the land in which you reside and the people who you are doing business with... at least while you're on our soil. The USA has a lot of things to work out, and we're going through rough times at the moment with the war and all, but if you don't live here then you can't knock it. We don't need you to mock us, we have our own journalists for that. As far as I'm concerned you're really not needed in this country, especially since you don't even have the decency to respect the home of your colleagues... so be a dear, say "cheerio!" and go back to your own queen saving, third world country.

The term "third world" was first coined when the US and the USSR were considered the worlds 2 superpowers. After the fall of the USSR, the US is often referred to a the worlds lone superpower. Most of Europe would rank second to superpower status. Third world refers to anything bellow that level. If you believe the US has EVER been a third world country, your definition of third world is unique.

The USA is not a "third World country".

How many times do you intend on making a fool out of yourself asking the same idiotic questions?

The only time we were a third world country was in our first 5 years of growth after the revolutionary war.

If we are such a third world country, why are you WORKING HERE?

Well with the redneck population and hillbillies it will be some time yet.
But they made a good start by getting rid of the English subjection in 1776 and not taxing the crap out of everything.
Also they are not puppets to Europe like we are.
