Some of the recent polls have shown that abortion is not supported by this new group as it was by age groups before it. And overall support for abortion is at its lowest since 1995. Teenage pregnancy is down and more are holding off having sex. There is a 30% decline in teenage pregnancy from 1991 to 2001. And more are chosing abstinence even as liberals pull the plug on government supported abstinence programs. Do we have a new generation of social conservatives advancing in the political arena.

Including immigrants, legal and illegal?

So, if you import 8 million extremely poor people, people with limited skills, limited English-speaking ability, and unlikely to get a high-paying job or a job that pays health insurance, those people are INCLUDED as "Americans" for purposes of the Census Bureau and BLS surveys -

- - - so when they report that the number of poor Americans or Americans without healthcare goes up, then unless that number is 8 million (and it's closer to 1/3 of that), the increase DOES NOT MEAN THAT PEOPLE ARE MOVING DOWN OR LOSING HEALTH BENEFITS ON A LARGE SCALE, RATHER IT MEANS PEOPLE ARE MOVING UP, JUST BEING REPLACED WITH NEW POOR PEOPLE.

If "Americans" means citizens, then there aren't more "poor Americans" - there are just more poor Mexicans living in America.

Kick them out, let them stay - do what you want about them, but Libs please STOP using their numbers to make false claims about the broader economy.

Why are they so jealous of the wealthy and successful? You can make money just like us. It takes a plan and a little common sense and you can make tons of money. Is it jealousy or are dems incapable of trying in life?

Under Bush, we have become a very polarized nation.

Isn't it time that we liberals and you conservatives stop the name calling and try to communicate with each other? Can't we try to hammer out some type of compromise?

It used to be more common, and we can do it again if both sides just have the will to lay down their verbal attacks and sit down at the negotiating table.

"A house divided against itself cannot stand."

Can't we just agree to disagree and actually start a productive dialogue?

For the sake of this country that both sides profess to love?

Patriotism is uniting the country, not dividing it.

I come from a fairly religious and conservative family. They think I'm crazy and heading down the wrong path because I think gay marriage should not have any government interference. I said that I see no reason why prostitution is illegal, and I think marijuana should be legalized. They are worried sick about me because they think I'm gay, they think I'm prostituting or considering it and they think I do drugs. I am not gay, I don't do drugs or prostitue. I just don't see why the government is so focused on these petty things when there are far more important things to focus on. What can I do or say to make them realize that a difference in opinion does not make me a nut or a bad person?

(a) A better life than you have today, in every material sense - higher income, better and bigger house, more inventions that make your life easier and/or more fun (e.g., PC, FIOS), better vacations - - but if you make this choice your worst enemy will win the Megamillions.

(B) Economic stagnation - the same or worse life materially - - but your worst enemy will suffer more.

I know the Tories are staunchly pro US, and the Labour party was almost equally so under Blair (maybe they'll be less so under Brown). What's the LDP's take on Britain's relations with the US.

I don't live in the UK, and I'd really like to hear your take on the matter. Thanks.

Hmm lets take a look at where we have looked for him so far.

We've looked in the desert.
We've looked under water.
We've looked in the mountains.
We've looked in caves.
We've looked in space.
We've looked in the woods.

We've looked everywhere for Osama, but there is one place we AREN'T looking for Osama.

And just to think he is probably laughing about it too.

We haven't looked around the United States closely enough for Osama. I mean isn't his niece a millionaire model here in the US? That makes them family no matter what you paper pushers say. My guess is Osama is right here in the United States living like a "Lizard King" off of his nieces money. Heck, Osama is probably in a Hollywood costume holding up signs that say "BUSH FOR 2008". Heck, Osama probably runs with the Bush supporters and even does protests. Look for Osama where you don't think he would be. Maybe we can find a clue there. We know where he isn't so lets try looking where we don't think he would be.

We're approaching half a trillion dollars spent on the war in Iraq. That's $500,000,000,000. That's a lot of taxpayer money. That should have bought us something don't you think?

Maybe we captured the guy responsible for killing over 3,000 Americans on 9/11? No, he had nothing to do with the invasion of Iraq.

Maybe we broke up and destroyed his group of terrorists? No, in fact our invasion of Iraq has recruited MORE terrorists to the cause according to our own intelligence estimate released last fall. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/24/world/middleeast/24terror.html?ex=1316750400&en=da252be85d1b39fa&ei=5088

Maybe we have at least weakened them? No, according to a recent threat assessment al queda is back to pre 9/11 strength.

Half a trillion. What HAS it bought us?
