Yes and no.
Those statistics are partially a result of our reaction to the recklessness of the last two generations. Our parents' generation and the one born in the 70s were borderline degenerates by and large. We're smarter because we've seen the consequences firsthand.
But I live the northeast and I use condoms. As for the evangelicals out in flyover country, its a completely different ball game with religious abstinence and such, so the social conservative aspect is also a viable reason for the statistical decline.

That is true and it is because of the guys not the girls. Most teenage girls over 16 or 17 are practically begging to have sex, but the young men are not assertive enough to initiate sex and the few that are are using condoms. Go to "Singles and Dating" Answers and notice all the young girls asking why their boyfriends will not kiss or have sex with them.
There are are a couple of reason for this. First because of rampant feminism and because little boys are drugged and punished in school so they will sit still, whisper, and act like little girls. As a result most young men are shy, wimpy, and unassertive.
Second because with that aid of the state the prostitutes have priced themselves out of the market. The price is 40 times more expensive than it use to be. If a young girl deliberately gets pregnant so she can have the good life with out working, the young man will have to pay her about $300,000 over the next twenty years. Young men have decided that the sex with the prostitutes is not worth that.

We have for a while. I'm part of the movement, and most, if not all, of my friends are conservatives too.
it fluctuates really. Usually in response to those they see as decietful. Today, that definitely defines the Liberal Politicians. Not that the Reps are perfect, but theyr'e consistant. While the Libs flip flop and can't even remember if they voted for the war or not the Reps never try to make that impression.
Also, the media is most decidedly biased. Naturally the youth will question the idea of getting only one side of the spin....
In a few generations we'll see the opposite movement.

A decrease in the rate of abortions and teenage pregnancy are good things I believe. I hope people will be able to choose without government interference.

I think it has more to do with open conversation, education and preparation for young adults. Finally "mothers" have gotten through on a few of lifes realities. In my Mothers era the talking had just begun, in mine "choice" became an option, in my daughters "knowledge" is power and for my grand daughter "No" means No.
I think politicians want label it "whatever" works and using data that represents true growth as a movement.

I read something interesting the other day about abortion--how the Democrats are aborting themselves out of existence. It's been long enough now since Roe that the children born since then are more likely to have been born to parents who don't believe in abortion, resulting in children who are taught that abortion is wrong. This is having an effect on how the issue of abortion is viewed by younger people.

Wow! Maybe the war on drugs is finally showing its effects. Is the free lovin, pot smokin, acid dropping, coke snorting hippie era finally over? I love that the under 30 crowd is growing up morally sound. Kudos to them! There IS hope for the future of America!!!

I believe most people who say they are pro-choice are highly ignorant to the origins of groups such as Planned Parenthood and the purpose for which abortion was introduced to this country. (google "eugenics planned parenthood") - this ignorance however is dwinlding as more and more people are getting educated. The conservative push in this country is also being helped along by people who simply care about libery, the constitution and by those who know that other forms of government, like widescale socialism simply doesn't work. I think this is the reason a candidate like Ron Paul has the biggest and fastest growing grass roots campaign in America (comprised mostly of people under 35).

I am PRO CHOICE. I am not ignorant of the origin of the groups that support pro choice. Most people who have not been in the situation to have to make that decision, do not know what it's like. Human beings make poor choices and find themselves in a situation they were not ready to handle. I don't think the decline in abortion has anything to do with the conservatives. I believe that it is parents talking openly to their children about sex and the consequences. And also sex education in the schools. In the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's parents did not speak openly about sex to their teenagers and younger children, few did. Being a teen in the 70's and 80's girls were getting pregnant left and right. In the 50's when you started your period is when you found out about it for most girls, especially hispanic girls. Sex was not a subject to be talked about out loud. With aids, std's and young pregnancies is now the reasons we are having these open conversations with out children. Certain political parties are not the reason for the drop in abortions. I have open conversations with both my son and daughter (16 and 11 yrs) about sex, hiv, legal consequesces for having sex as a teen (16 with a 14 or 18 and 16). You could be classified as a sex offender for the rest of your life, because you had sex with 16 yr old girlfriend and you're an 18 yr old male in high school. There goes your life. I have these open discussions because I know from experience the consequences of having sex as a teenage. Having an abortion is a horrible thing, you could lose your mind after going through it. You need support after having an abortion. I work in law enforcement and see young men being charged with a sexual offense because his girlfriend's parents didn't like him having sex with their daughter. STD's these are all the reasons for a drop in teen pregnancy and abortion. Conservatives? I think not.
Also, if my daughter gets pregnant when she becomes a teen, I will ask her if she wants an abortion. And if chooses to do so, I will take her. I see to many young children in my field with parents who don't stay together, and use their child(ren) in their fight to gain something over the other in a constant battle to make the other parents life miserable. They use these poor children to make the other miserable even to the point of each parent pulling an arm of the child to keep the other from taking the child and in the end child protective services is the one who ends up with the child. What child wants a life like that? Or the grandparent, who made their daughter go through with the pregnancy only to now want to take custody of the child, because the girl leaves the baby with them so she can go out with friends and party on a nightly basis and grandma/grandpa are already a welfare and they're driving a 2007 cadillac escalade. Yeah, lets keep abortion out, so the rest of us can support teen mothers of the country, plus the teen mothers from other countries as well. I bet if they polled the illegal immigrants about teen pregnancy there would not be a drop. Forget about polling for abortion because most are Catholic and wouldn't do it anyway. And, just for info I am Catholic, I just believe that it's "your choice" and no one elses.
