a dozen or so oilwells, designed like water fountains - oil squirting out, recovered and delivered to a holding tank to gush out again... we could even put a retired fighter jet on a steel pole overlooking the oilfield. Bush could pretend to be leading the charge in his toy jet, overlooking the invasion of the oil field, while his neocon buddies scurry in play jeeps below pretending to be in battle? It sure would be cheaper than the mess he's got us in now.

Today, the republican leadership used a manuever to require a 60 vote majority to pass an amendment sponsored by Sens Jim Webb (D-VA and Chuck Hagel (R-NE). This amendment would have required that troops have at least as much time at home as they are deployed. The amendment failed to get 60, it got 56. A procedural victory for republicans.

As a member of the army national guard, I would appreciate such a measure. I did two deployments, one 18 months, and one 15 months, which includes training that took me away from my home. In between them, I had 11 and 1/2 months at home. I love my country, but this isn't worth it anymore.

I'm a highly qualified soldier, I have a top secret security clearance and a bachelor's degree. I'm getting out in 6 months. The army can get by with the felons it now recruits.

I find Bush's exhortations of "supporting" the troops ridiculous. He and his party support only the war.

So what has this administration accomplished since 9/11? If the government were a business, Bush would have been fired a long time ago.

Can you identify the differences between a Democrat, a Liberal, and a moderate?
If an individual happens to be anti-Bush, that doesn’t automatically make them a Liberal. Many people from his own party disfavor him. So does that make Republicans who criticize Bush, liberals too? Please explain yourself!!

Note: Please refrain from extraneous rants about liberals and their attacks against GWB loyalties. That is irrelevant to the question. Stick to the topic. Thanks!

"A moderate is just a liberal disguise, and they are doing everything they can to derail the conservative agenda, and they've been frustrated, they haven't been able to do anything about it because conservatism has been so strong. This propaganda attack on the president has weakened him." –Rush Limbaugh
(If you want examples, I have many!)

My question. If they have this much detailed information, the number three man giving them information, why are we getting reports and no actions to kill, capture or damage them as much as possible? My President stood on a pile of rubble in NYC telling the world we're coming to get them, you can either help us or be a part of the problem. Why are we not getting them if we are supposed to be fighting al-Qaida WHEREVER they are? You're either with us, or against us. What happened to that statement? I'm totally against us still being in Iraq but if this IS true, it's totally inexcusable.

Bush told us that Al Qaeda had been severely crippled. He also is telling us that Iraq is improving. Can Bush be believed by ANYONE now? Is he putting us at risk by not telling the truth?

like the attempted terror attacks in London? If you listen to MSNBC, this was nothing more than a freshman type prank. Yeah, I guess I can see the humor in the attempted mass murder of hundreds of innocent civilians. In fact, I just realized that 9/11 was just a big joke on us--and the hijackers were just trying to promote comradere through humor. How could we have missed THAT?

With certain news stations leaning far left and far right, political ads, and political snipers waiting for a politician to look at someone the wrong way and make a movie or ad about it....how do we as voters have a freedom to vote? Our opinion is swayed based on what all the above mentioned say. So how are we able to make an informed decision? We have good guys they make look bad and vice versa.

Of course you don't have to pay to change your political affiliation - then why doesn't the libertarian party clarify this?

And yes, you can donate to your party, but doesn't this article make it sound mandatory?

as an American who is currently on a business trip in the UK, i feel i must ask this.
Recently i was getting very drunk in a London pub and i decided to take on 15 British blokes(Wussies) at drinking.
Of course i let theBritsh drink their usual Strongboww, but they could still not beat me.
16 pints of shandy(Bull-weiser),i noticed the British had all spewed and gone home.
The next day the cowardly British drinkers(haha) did not turn up for a rematch, i wonder why?

The Terrorists try to destroy all that makes our country great, our freedom, our acceptance of all cultures and all walks of life, ect.. by creating fear and distrust from within. They know the U.S. is too great to be brought down face on, so they have set out to destroy us from within, to have us destroy ourselves. To create a U.S. where we distrust each other, especially those who do not look like ourselves, and to create such strife within our own government that it can not stand, nor get anything accomplished, and thus becomes the laughing stock of the world. To create a situation where we are afraid to travel or go to large events, and when we do, we are subjected to such security meaures as to almost feel as though our freedoms have been taken away. What can we as Americans do, and what can our future president do, to combat these issues?

Don't they know that communists have killed over 100 million people.

Man has been fighting since the beginning of time and that fighting will increase since the population of the earth continues to increase. Political ideology, religion, and land disputes cause most wars. There are countries and people all around the world that want the U.S. to either be Islamic, or be destroyed.
