With certain news stations leaning far left and far right, political ads, and political snipers waiting for a politician to look at someone the wrong way and make a movie or ad about it....how do we as voters have a freedom to vote? Our opinion is swayed based on what all the above mentioned say. So how are we able to make an informed decision? We have good guys they make look bad and vice versa.

The problem is not the voting process, it's the media. Both sides of the spectrum, but especially the liberals, because they control most of the news output today, report based on their feelings, leaving out information that undermines or disproves their opinion. We live in an age where reality has become optional. Truth is considered relative. Until the media starts reporting the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, American voter will not be well-informed.

The constitution does not give us the right to vote for the president. That is not the way The Founding Fathers set up our government. Our country is NOT a democracy. It is a REPUBLIC.As far as who to vote for,I simply look at the candidate's voting record on issues that are important to me and make my decision based on that criteria. That's why Obama's support confuses me.He has no track record to speak of,since he lacks a lengthy enough history for me to make an educated opinion of him.Voting on emotion is dangerous.

People allow themselves to be swayed by soundbytes and fancy campaign mailers and though I believe that will be the death of our nation, they have the right to be that ignorant. Look at the biased reporting on Iraq including not talking about the ramifications of defeat and how that has influenced the American people. One would hope that they'd care enough to research and think for themselves but again it is their right to be lemmings no matter what the cost.

So you are saying that people exercising free speech and freedom of the press actually prevents you from making up your own mind and casting a vote?

Yes. No one tries to keep me from voting (just the opposite), or prevents me from voting any way I please. If your mind can't sort out and manage all of the influences sent your way, too bad. Don't try and tell me that you can't discern the truth about the candidates because of the media. That's no excuse.
