For example blatant lies are allowed in election campaigns without any need for solid evidence. Hard line christian groups influence political decisions. Big business influences political decisions. For example respected scientific research accepted worldwide on global warming is rejected by American government as unproven and damaging to American economy.
What is going wrong in America? How did it get that way and will it ever recover?

I'm not suggesting they did, but considering the money spent on advertising that no one takes much notice of, to get the same political capital by standard means would be pretty expensive.

After all, Bush says we want to get out of there as soon as possible. So why doesn't he come out and promise that we aren't/won't build any permanent bases? Is he sending mixed signals which is energizing the jihadists to fight the Americans??

I feel the 10,000 so far have not covered the issue. Why is it you conservatives are always upset about things that hurt nobody, but don't care when lies lead to death?

I was watching NBC News last night or this morning, and the reporter said that if you like Kerry, you view his comments as the bad joke he claims it was, and if you like President Bush, you view his comments as unconscionable. If you assume both are true, which I somehow doubt, what of those of us who neither like nor respect either of those individuals?

Before I'm asked on yet another political question, no, I'm not a socialist. This name is a joke based on a user ID I once created that combined Engels' name with one of the most recognizable and commercially successful songs of the last three decades, in hopes that it would have Engels rolling over in his grave. I'm a libertarian, though one who is torn between neolibertarianism and minarchism.

John Kerry's quote: "You know, education--if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

Mrs. Heinz's husband accusing the White House of DISTORTING his statement: "My statement [Monday]--and the White House knows this full well--was a botched joke about the president and the president's people, not about the troops. The White House's attempt to distort my true statement is a remarkable testament to their abject failure in making America safe."

I dont think the Republicans are putting fuel to the fire; it's the media.

what did the NY Times have to say about this issue, any quotes from the entertainment left?

John Kerry, Your not the President of the US for a reason, and you will never will be. Thank you for letting us see your true colors :)

Remember when his wife slapped and cursed someone out during the 2004 election? Do you want these self-righteous multi-millionaire snobs in the White House?

I remember Kerry saying we should go to the UN for Iraq...

What have they done ? The UN? Anyone ever follow their resolutions?

Not to mention Darfur......They have a staff of people set up for things like that. But they do nothing.

Yet the Democrats think the UN is the greatest thing. Why?
