Character and Performance:
The Presidency of George W. Bush

George W. Bush: a case of an addictive/authoritarian personality? Three major formative influences have been said to have shaped Bush's character or personality.

A chief challenge until the age of forty was to escape his fathers shadow; until assuming the presidency George W. had folled his father's path but had failed to achieve his fathers sucess.

His religious conversion in the period following a 1985 conversation Bush had with the Rev. Billy Graham.

His becoming a teetotaler the day after an wild 40th birthday party in 1986, following many years of alcohol abuse.

Together, these last two changes are regarded as constituting a turning point in Bush's life.

Although failing to find an overall addictive personality type, some psychologist conclude that many kinds of addicts share common traits: low-self esteem;what might be called a learned incompetence; a negative outlook; and a history of depe

John Kerry resonding to Tony Snow about commits he made,

"This is the classic GOP playbook," Kerry said in a harshly worded statement. "I'm sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did. I'm not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium."

If he had shown this back bone in 04 maybe we would not be in Iraq anymore.

For over five years, Bush and his corporate-military junta - aided and abetted by our corporate-owned mainstream media - have used fear and intimidation to push Americans down the road to total paranoia.

What say you on this matter?

How do Christian rightwingers rationalize the conflict of your pro-life, anti-crime and their anti-immigration platforms? Unwanted babies have a much greater chance of a life of crime and overpopulation of the third world countries like Mexico leads to much higher illegal and refugee immigration levels to the US.

Latest word is, he refuses to apologize and hurls insults about people who haven't served in the military like him (ha ha).

Now, John McCain and many other are requesting him to apologize. What will John Kerry do?

How the righties on this site lack the ability to engage in intelligent debate. The best they can come up with is personal attacks that don’t even rise to the level of insult. I wonder if the republican party assigned them to this site to keep them out of the public eye. Kind of a bastard stepchild sort of thing. If their voices were truly valued, no, wait, they don’t have a voice. Just the ignorant blathering of dysfunctional automatons. Kind of remind me of those yappy little dogs. Lot’s of noise but very little presence.

You will get five minutes to address the nation, in prime time. All the networks will cover it, just like an important presidential speech.

What do you say?

Keep it clean, folks. And have fun. I wish I could give ten points to EVERY interesting or clever answer!

I think I'm going to try to retire from politics for the next week or so after this . . .

I'm sort of in between. If we find him and kill him, dont you think that will make these terrrorist cells "Explode?" (no pun intended). I think if we got him and killed him the repercutions would be far worser than sept 11. so what do we do? do we secretly know where he is and keep it a secret for safety reassons?

Seems like a controversy is brewing today on who is keeping us in Iraq. Can't the politicians bring our boys home, or do the soldiers have that decision on whether or not they want to be in Iraq for 3 more years?
