when you identify them as SOCIALISTS?

I mean if they like it so much why not just come out and tell AMerica, the democrats are really socialists and we are proud of it.

Why hide behind labels, like liberal or democrat?

Are you concerned that if you told AMericans you were socialists you would be shunned, that you could NEVER hold a seat in congress?

As a SOCIALIST are you feeling badly about pelosi and the other progressive socialists signed up with the DSA? I mean that is pretty hard to deny, they said they are socialists.

SO how can you be a socialists and a democrat? They aren't really the same thing are they? I mean I know a lot of democrats, some good friends and they are not socialists, not even close to it.

Many conservatives have unfathomable levels of stupidity and want America to be the first country in which the government will not support its people whatsoever through programs of any kind.

I just read an article the other day about the Pope warning politicians that if they support pro-choice, they face excommunication. Personally I think this is a major violation of right because not everyone is going to believe what you believe, so what right do you have to prevent them from doing so. Also, if people believe that life begins at conception, then why isn't there a big controversy over the sale of morning after pills? Enough of my opinions though, what do you people think?

I mean come on, a socialist is so far removed from being a liberal it is almost diametrical, and a democrat, why if my granpa was still kicking he would be after the socialists with a shotgun

I know they are many republicans out there who are pro-choice, but the vast majority are "pro-lifers" but still support the death penalty and reckless pointless wars that kill thousands of U.S. troops and little brown children unnecessarily. If they love Jesus so much why don't they try to be like him more? Please don't think I hate Republicans. It's the religious right that gets on my nerves!

Currently there have been 567 requests to Congress from 34 states to hold a Constitution Convention. As of this date, Congress has yet to respond to a single request.

Friends of the Article V Convention, http://www.foavc.org/
have filed suit with the Supreme Court. Due to technical issues the Court has refused at this point.

Regardless of what the states ask to propose, the Congress must by law respond, in not doing so they are in fact in violation of the law. Regardless of what the convention proposes as amendments, the states must ratify by 3/4 majority.

Congress has refused, illegally, because they know the prime purpose is to put term limits on them.

Are there any attorneys here that would be willing to help move this forward through the courts, demanding that congress listen to the voters?

I drove by a gas station earlier today and gas was up here to $3.25/gal. That's totally rediculous. The sad thing is there are a few things we could do to drop the price of gas. First, get rid of ALL the stupid taxes that are tacked on to the price of gas. Alot of the taxes that are tacked on have nothing to do with the roads or to gasoline. Second, let's start drilling for more oil here in the US. In Alaska we have plenty, also under the Rocky Mountains there was a deposit of oil shale discovered that contains more oil than in the ENTIRE Middle East. Third, we need to build more oil refineries to keep up with the demand for the oil we consume. I believe that if we drilled for our own oil and built refineries, it would create more jobs and we could lower the price of gas and not depend on foreign oil like we do.

Does anyone else agree with me?

One of the greatest resources the USA has is it's university system and the research that they do.
Another is our science based corporations.
A president is chosen who displays an open contempt for science, and tries to muzzle scientists.
Is this a problem?

The anti-war protest rallies as of late have been dismally small, especially those in Washington, DC. It took more than eight (8) years of anti-war protests and civil disobedience to bring the hawks in the Pentagon to their senses and realize that war could not be won militarily or otherwise. How long must this war with Iraq go on before the war-mongers in Washington realize the same lesson. It is blatantly obvious that this war cannot possibly be "won" militarily, if at all.
The only way Bush and his cronies are going to wake up to the fact that most Americans don't approve of his handling of this war is for more people to get personally involved by raising up thier voices in protest. Nationwide protests helped bring the Vietnam War to an end and there is no reason why we can't do the same today, tomorrow, and indefinitely in the future until those arrogant blood-thirsty bastards in Washington come to their senses.

would you agree to pay taxes to fund this unfunded mandate?
I was thinking that if schools could actually fund the No Child Left Behind project, less taxes might be spent in all other areas of social welfare eventually because all people would be required to get a good education to begin with. What do you think.

Also, for those of you who think you have never used social welfare, if you received an education in public schools you certainly have.

In this country, the only people that are poor are the ones that choose to be poor. I am not saying that someone wakes up in the morning and wants to be poor. I am saying that people make decisions in their lives that lead them down that road. Study for school or party? Work or party? Do drugs or find a job? I do not believe that today in this country, there is not an excuse for anyone to be poor. Please do not bore me with the disabled and handicapped, they should be taken care of by their families.
