If we are to set ourselves higher than our "enemies", then shouldn't we practice what we preach?

Don't be so literal people.
The people in Cuba were put into a concentration camp, accused of nothing, denied legal representation.
I don't know about you, but being locked up for no reason is WORSE than death.

Simmer down folks - I'm not "Comparing", I'm "Contrasting".
It's a question of basic human rights.

So for all the "Semper's" out there. You Swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. Gitmo is on your watch and clearly a violation of our constitution.
I'm not saying that some of these people might be terrorists. But we MUST adhere to our own constitution or we are meaningless.

I like the "chanting death" guy.
How do you KNOW that any given guy in that jail "chanted death".
Were you there? Were you at his trial?
Oh wait - they don't GET trials, do they?
That, my mullet-headed freinds, would be the POINT.

Give me a break. No reasonable person would compare Auschwitz with Guantanamo Bay.

You haven't got a clue, man. You can't compare GTMO and a Nazi prison camp. No one is being gassed or killed in any way shape or form. Also, the torture that happened at those concentration camps is way worse than any of those detainees have or will ever go thru.
And another thing, What do you think our soldiers are going thru when they become POW in another country? They are treated much worse than the GTMO detainees. The detainees are fed and clothed and allowed some exercise. Would another country offer that to our men and women?
Oh and by the way, where do you get your information about Guantanamo Bay, anyway? The news? You didn't even spell Guantanamo correctly. Man, you really aren't that smart. The news is well known for twisting any story to make it sell.

The buttheads in jail at Guantanamo have it better than they have every had it in their entire lives. The get prayer rugs, foot washers, Koran, TV, soccer, weights, great meals (which should be laced with cianide) plenty of fresh air and free time.
They should all be shot with a piece of pig in their mouths so they never get to heaven. In case you do not know this...we are at war with the Muslims and if we are to win then we must stay tough and get even tougher.

There is one giant issue! What happens next?
Do you think we should close Guantanimo Bay and send them all back were they were captured? If that is your position you would be handing more than half of them a death sentence. Remember most place you are guilty till proven innocent.
You can decry the situation, but where is your solution? I would rather see them live than die.

How many prisoners at Guantanimo Bay have been stripped of their belongings, their clothes, their dignity, and their religion, then sent to gas chambers to die an excrusciating death? The answer is NONE! How dare you compare the two! Not even in the same arena!

The nature of humans is indeed static
We refuse to learn from history
We can not put an old head on young shoulders
We were dieing for the wars and wealth of our Kings in 800 Ad
We are dieing for the wars and wealth of our Kings and Presidents now
What ever we were put here to learn - each generation appears to have to relearn it
Each generation forgets and thinks it is so much smarter than the last one - we fool ourselves into thinking we are evolving socially or intelectually
The 4 wars of succesion fought in the 16,000's were over who gets to rule what
We fought because we wanted King X to rule over a foriegn nation and not King Y
America just went to war over succesion to the thrown in Iraq
Men died to dipose Sadam and they die now to make sure the US guy stays in power
How has there been a significant differnece in anything between the 16,000's and now
Those camps in Germany were for "sub humans"
Those camps in Cuba are also for "sub humans"
The bible is relevant to most today not because it was inspired by any god but the motives of humans have not changed -
In this way the plays of Shakespeare could easily rep.ace the bible as a holy script as it too speaks to the greed hate love betrayel and so forth of the human being
We are by far the most cruel foul and lowest form of life on the planet
And yet we could be the greatest

I can do it easily.
And what did the Jews do to get sent to Auchwitz, were they chanting death to anyone?
How do you know they didn't? No, they're not Americans.
I'd rather trust the people trying to keep us safe than some immature mullet-hating moron who compares the US to Nazis.

No gas chambers, adequate health care (many who died at Auschwitz, died of typhoid), dietary considerations, religious accommodations.
The detainees at Gitmo are unprivileged combatant/belligerents who are denied POW status by the Geneva convention.
The victims of Auschwitz were rounded up and exterminated because they were Jewish, homosexual, gypsies, etc.
So I can easily condemn Auschwitz and heartily support Guantanamo. No problem at all.

Because they're not the same, and never were. You're allowing a Liberal media, who wants to lose the war, and uses manipulation on American people, to get their agenda across, tell you a lie. America always has treated humans as humans, and we're not the ones who torture people. Japan, Vietnam, Germany committed these acts, against us. We have always followed the Geneva Convention. Don't be so quick to judge those who are saving you right now, the Americans.

Torture is wrong under any circumstance, but you can't compare Auschwitz with Guantanamo Bay. Auschwitz was systematic genocide, which is something quite different from a military prison.
