YES!!!!
Anyone who has a brain, and is even half-way informed about the price of oil agrees with you.
The Democrats won't let us drill in much of the Off Shore, in Alaska, and on Oil Rich Government Lands.
The Solution: VOTE OUT DEMOCRATS NEXT ELECTION.
Democrats are bought & paid for by the Environmentalists that WANT high gas prices.
Great Question. Thank you.

Does anyone else find it interesting that gas prices went sky high right after Democrats became the majority in Congress, and then plummeted when the economy tanked? I have a theory behind the fact that gas prices rocketed after Democrats became the majority in Congress and can go all the way back down to where they were right before the Democrats became a majority now that the economy has tanked. Whats your theory? EDIT: The "reality" is, when we invaded Iraq, NO CHANGE in our gas prices was seen. As a matter of fact, the "reality" is, until Katrina hit, in 2005, gas prices were very low. The "reality is", after oil refineries came back on line, gas prices went BACK down until Democrats became a majority in Congress in 2006... The "reality" is, oil prices SKYROCKETED after Democrats became a majority in Congress (in 2006). Period. The invasion of Iraq in 2003 (3 years prior) had nothing to do with it. If what you were saying were true, "the minute we invaded Iraq" gas prices would have skyrocketed, not out of the blue THREE YEARS LATER !!!!

The prices go up every year around this time, and will start dropping again right around the time school starts. It's like clockwork. The sad part is the oil company CEOs keep getting more and more money, more than they could ever use in ten lifetimes, yet the simple families can't even afford to go anywhere because of the outrageous cost. Don't forget May15, don't buy gas that day.

Are you kidding? It's over 4.00 here in San Francisco...
But FYI, we can't just go drilling everywhere we want. Oil doesn't grow back, we have to save it for when it's really necessary. Stop whining about the price of gas and try buying a freaking hybrid or a small car, or, even better, use public transportation. Isn't that smarter than everyone buying 3 gas-guzzling SUVs and drilling into the Rockies to do so? Get real.

You forgot another possible solution. Require car makers to make more efficient cars and promote conservation and carpooling. If you have to go less than a mile, walk or ride a bike instead of drive your car. If you and your neighbor are going to get groceries, ride together. Plan your stops to use the least amount of fuel. If you have to go to work, buy groceries, and pick up the kids from school. Do them all in one trip, instead of three separate trips. Watch the way you drive, sudden accelerations burn a great deal more fuel than slow steady accelerations. If everyone did these things, we could cut our demand for gas.
Boycotting the oil companies for one twenty-four hour period will have no effect unless we all decide to change our consumption habits and make a conscious effort to use the least amount of gasoline possible.

You have touched on several differnent issues.
First, the tree huggers will not allow us to secure the oil in the ground around Alaska and the Rockies.
Second, it has been known to store a lot of reserves to maintain our significance in the world.
Third, taxes as a whole provide for the roads and so on. We are taxed for turning on our lamps at home to read. We are not making in progress in reducing the size of GOVCO. and as it grows, we have to pay more. I am totally against more taxes, and taxing fuel should be at a certain cost, but here in NC it is based as a percentage, so the higher fuel cost goes, the more the government gets. They seem to like it that way.

Although this will not do away with the need for oil, this year France is manufacturing a vehicle that runs on compressed air. It is clean and improvements are being made for faster speeds and less"fill up" time.

Several other countries also have prototypes.

oil is $10 a barrel less than it was last year and gas was only $2.50 then.
Do they just make up these prices?
Meanwhile 12.5 million barrels of oil leaves Iraq daily and neither we or the Iraqi people seem to know where the money is going. It was supposed to pay for Iraq rebuilding, but that ain't happening...
WTF?

More oil refineries? The oil business is a monopoly right now, with all the Republican cronies in their pockets. They aren't going to let that happen. They will continue to gouge until we begin investing our energy into alternative sources.
