Many conservatives have unfathomable levels of stupidity and want America to be the first country in which the government will not support its people whatsoever through programs of any kind.

Seems as though they would rather us Americans be forced to work much harder for the same money.

Not true. I just want people to work and stop expecting the government to support them. There is a job available for any person willing to work.

I don't feel that programs that teach an unemployed person a new career path is socialist. The government is sending our jobs out of the country. Does a church provide a new career path or just provide food and clothing until the person is able to get two or three little jobs to survive? Is that the kind of life we are expected to live in this great country? Churches aren't always able to help other people very much as far as providing a net for troubled times. They are wonderful for counseling.

If a person is actually lazy, I don't believe in helping them either. I believe there are limits to welfare benefits. They aren't anything like they were back in the 60's. At that time, a person could actually live better on welfare than working sometimes. That is wrong.

I think it is interesting that conservatives call lazy people liberals. Actually, people who have no interest in even surviving probably have no political affiliation and don't even vote.

In the mind of some conservatives, I am sure even Theodore Roosevelt is a socialist. Even though he was a Republican from a wealthy background Roosevelt pursued the following extremely liberal policies to aid the people:

1. Roosevelt sued to break up the trusts (monopolies).

2. He pushed for the Meat Inspection Act and the Pure Food and Drug Act.

3.Toyed with the idea of nationalizing the coal industry before negotiating an end of the coal strike of 1902 that sided with the coal miners union.

4. He signed the Hepburn Act which allowed the Interstate Commerce Commission to set the maximum rates for railroads and end free passage for friends of the railroad.

5. He created the National Parks to preserve the wilderness for the American People.

T.R was so progressive for his day, that he decided to run against President Taft, his hand-picked successor because he felt Taft didn't do enough for the people.

Stupid Marxist - how do tax cuts help the average person when the programmes they relied on being cut has cost them more than the tiny tax benefit they gained?.
As for the constant reassertion (with of course no proof offered) that private charity should replace government assistance programmes.
Countries with large government sectors often have lower rates of poverty and better standards of living than the US
Look at health care. The conservatives oppose any sort of universal insurance - scoffing at the very idea and labelling it "socialist" or more often - in some perverse way to display ignorance "communist". What they do not want you to know is the US total (ie private plus public) spending on healthcare is the highest in the world. Yet important health indicators (eg infant mortality, life expectancy) are among the worst in the developed world.
In other words - thier way of helping people is to have them continue to pay more for a system that has failed them.

Unknown to the public our gov been running a senario to keep all Americans from ever again having the money to get in their hair like the kids who protested the Veitnam War. So many lids were in DC that no one couls drive anywhere. The streets were shoulder to shoulder kids.

The lelected officials had go to the roof of the building they were in. Take Helicopter to their next stop and decend from the roof to their floor. This went on for months. Our elected officials put a program in place to end that kind of economic prosperity from ever being available to us ever again.

Since then the taxes on something have gone up just enough every year to keep us working so long for so little we have no time to get in their hair for anything. They have planned this and worked for this.

They are no longer our employees we are theirs.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

This is quoted from the American Declaration of Independence.

A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.
Edward Abbey

If a politician found he had cannibals among his constituents, he would promise them missionaries for dinner.
Henry Louis Mencken (1880-1956)
CAPITAL, n. The seat of misgovernment. That which provides the fire, the pot, the dinner, the table and the knife and fork for the anarchist; the part of the repast that himself supplies is the disgrace before meat.
Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914)

It is not the function of the government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error.

"Many conservatives have unfathomable levels of stupidity and want America to be the first country in which the government will not support its people whatsoever through programs of any kind."
if the stupidity is so unfathomable...how do you understand what we want...how do you help people by giving them a hand out for life...how do you help people who don't practice saving to pay for their retirement...how do you help people learn to live within their means if you support them when they over spend...how do you help people who had promiscuous sex now contracted aids and because of his/her lifestyle my taxes pay for his/her treatment...a small amount of social programs are good for society...but liberals never do anything in moderation...social security gives false hope to people so they don't end up saving money...American has the lowest saving rate...and the government did steward the money well...i am for help out people who have a hard time...but i am not supporting people because they are too lazy to get work...nor am i for supporting people to have more kids to get more money from the government...i am for some basic health care for child up to age 10...why do people from socialist countries come to America for medial treatment...now i live in japan...the social health care cost about $300 a month...and that you have to pay when you work or when you do not work...that pushes personally responsibility which is OK for me...but i think liberals in America are too extreme...they run away from any personal responsibility and want the rest of the people to pay for it...

Tax cuts help the American people financially. Why do the liberals/socialists oppose them?

Government programs are wasteful and inefficient. Private charity is much more cost-effective. Conservatives want to help people, but not in a wasteful manner.

Seems to me that liberals are telling their politicians, yes, I am too stupid to spend my hard earned money by myself. I need all of you brilliant leaders to make my choices for me. Take all my money in the form of any tax you can think of and then give me programs that I think are free...DUH. (We've all heard stories of the $500 staplers and $1000 toilet seats, really.)

Conservatives want help available to people who are too aged or disabled and temporary help for people in a bind and need to get back on their feet. The rest need to get off of their lazy @sses and work and pay their own way. The government can't support its people because the government IS it's people. Talk about stupid.

If tax cuts helped America, then America would be able to sustain itself without having a 1 tillion dollar debt right? Some people are dumb.

The right has convinced most Americans that being right wing IS being patriotic. Nothing could be further from the truth, but unfortunatley that's the way it is.

I wouldn't worry about it. Flawed media and the current administration aren't really fooling anyone right now. Eventually will see these so called "Patriots" for who they really are.

Bush = death of the Republican Party.

I will be laughing pretty hard when the democrats sweep the country. lol.

Um... who's stupid? I won't violate Yahoo rules and say, but you don't seem to understand that governments don't help people overall -- they merely force some to pay for others, and there is no limit to what people will want, if they don't have to work for it.

It's immoral to force some to pay for others. If you have such good ideas, give your own money, don't take the money I earned for your purposes.

Forced redistribution is merely civilized plunder, and its popularity shows the immorality and greed underlying your sentiments. If your arguments aren't good enough to convince people to do what you think is important, you have no right to force people to comply.

You sicken me.
