If the resistance simply lies low, which it hasn't so far, and starts up full bore after the US leaves what will be accomplished? Any clues?

Never. We invaded their country & still occupy it. It would be like if Mexico invaded our country, would we just sit back and accept it...what...you mean we are? Never mind...

Well, once the US leaves Iraq the vast majority Iraqi Shiites/Kurds will wipe out the insurgents/Al Qaeda & then we'll have to see what happens after that.

Face it guys, Bushs army generals and advisors said they would need 300,000 troops to accomplish their mission in Iraq, they were given roughly half that number, Your sons and daughters were sent off to foriegn lands as cannon fodder to capture and control oil fields that dont belong to any of you, and also to free up the supply of opium poppies from Afghanistan to make more heroin for the west. When will you clowns wake up??

don't be preposterous!
telling insurgents that you are going to send in a bunch more troops - when and where just gives them lots time to organize and move elsewhere and cause trouble where ever the additional troops aren't.

it amazes me that no journalists have pointed this out to the same guys who say that telling insurgents when you are going to leave makes no tactical sense.

the surge is just propaganda.

bush has morphed from an incompetent boob into a monster...

I think their motivation is to keep the US in Iraq using vital resources to keep the peace. The more money and resources we use up the weaker we become. The cost of dropping bombs is more but the cost of an unstable society in Iraq will add up the cost to our control. They will feel we can not stop them there and bring the war to us. We are all just infidels to them anyways.

First of all... it is NOT a "surge" it IS AN ESCALATION... NO... it will actually result in prolonging the war and have no effect on the Freedom Fighters
