I just read an article the other day about the Pope warning politicians that if they support pro-choice, they face excommunication. Personally I think this is a major violation of right because not everyone is going to believe what you believe, so what right do you have to prevent them from doing so. Also, if people believe that life begins at conception, then why isn't there a big controversy over the sale of morning after pills? Enough of my opinions though, what do you people think?

Ok, apparently you guys missed the point here. I realize that the church is a private organization, but when it starts imposing its views on politicians whose decisions affect everyone, not just those of their own faith, then we start to have a problem.

Seriously, I am sorry I asked this question because NOBODY gets what the hell I am trying to say here. YES you can be of the catholic faith BUT if you are a POLITICIAN then you make DECISIONS that other people are LEGALLY FORCED INTO ACCEPTING. Now, following this line of logic, would it be ethical for the pope to FORCE politicians into making laws that are right for ONLY CATHOLICS, EVEN THOUGH NOT EVERYONE THEY ARE LEADING ARE CATHOLIC. If you still are following me on this line of thought here, then why not make abortion legal, so that anyone who decides that is the right thing for them to do can do it, and if you are Catholic, then just don't friggin get an abortion. Government is there for EVERYONE not just people of a certain faith. Now come on people, how are you not understanding the ethical problem I am having with this information.

I understand exactly what you are saying, but I don't have an answer for you.
If you are a leader, you are a practicing Catholic and do what the church says, then you are obligated to vote to have abortion made an illegal act. What a crappy situation to find yourself in?! For both the leader and people like you an me that aren't Catholic.
Religion really shouldn't affect the decisions our leaders make, but we know that it does. All of this is just a power play between the Pope and his Church and the rest of us. This has been going on forever.
Try not to drive yourself crazy with all of the crap that goes on these days. You really won't get any sleep at night.

Oh my goodness, calm down. Abortion is legal. I am a former Catholic, who is now a practicing Christian. I was taught in Catholic school that the ONLY way to get ex-communicated was divorce. So, if what you say is true, the pope is making up new rules as he goes along. Anyway, the pope cannot FORCE politicians to do anything. If the politician chooses to follow his faith and vote in a way that is not what his constituency wants, than they can choose to not re-elect him.

Humans are Humans, and imperfect no matter what we think! That's why Abortion should never be a government funded or regulated issue! The Government will only screw it up!!! The issue should always be between the Woman, Her Doctor, And Her Spiritual Adviser, who ever that may be!!! Everybody else should butt out! Including, Family, Friends, the Law, Religion, Right to Life, And evrybody else for Gods sake! Why can't educated wienies see that!!!!

Pro life people are against the morning after pill except in case of rapes. Why violation of rights have occurred?
You choose your religion, so if you are Catholic you listen to the Pope if not you do not. I am not Catholic but I still agree.
Religions have commandments & rules, & even politicans are expected to follow those commandments
Who are you calling "you people"?.

Oh goodness sake, what right? Why is it that everyone thinks that because they want something, everyone owes it to them?
The Pope has no reason not to defend his faith from the erosion of morals and ethics you seem to want for the Catholics. I'm not Catholic, but your argument is silly.
If you can't follow the rules of being Catholic, you don't get to be Catholic. Is that so hard to understand or follow? You mean the organization has to change to give everyone their own 'whatever'? How about people who like to steal? Or murder? Or paint nude paintings of Jesus on public bathroom walls?
Your argument applies to them as well.
Like I said, your argument is silly.

I suppose it is form of just like the Patriot invoice that went via Congress after nine/eleven. If you voted towards it you have been unpatriotic. Likewise if you happen to say the ones homosexual men and women are demanding you are going to be viewed a homophobe although you are not. It's ridiculous particularly. Who cares if you are homosexual or no longer? That's my industry. If your homosexual, instantly, tranny, bi, anything, I do not supply a crap. No topic your sexuality, if you're being demanding you must close the eff up and knock it off.

I have no time for the pope and think he's a joke but I agree with him this time. There was a huge fuss over the morning after pill but you didnt see it much in mainstream media.

Every body is always asking me when life begins and I have to say when the children leave home. So if you are lucky and do not have them start living right now.

The Pope is running a church. He has the right to explain church law. The state doesn't run the church, so keep your manipulative hands off. If you don't like it, don't be a Catholic.
