08 could prove to be a very tough race. Especially if McCain is the Republican nomination. Honestly, he's the only Republican I like. If Georgie's brother Jeb gets the nod, I believe it will be pretty easy race to win. Just curious as to what you think about it. Let's try to keep any racist comments or gender bashing to a minimum please. Thanks.

I love this quote. I think It's why people will blindly follow one leader or one set of ideologies, despite overwhelming facts. Here is the quote:

"What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way."

And for any Republicans who stumble upon this question, how many of you first registered as Democrats and how old were you when you switched parties?

I am so confused. Democratic candidates in my state ran solely on the basis of immediate withdrawal. Last night Howard Dean said immediate withdrawal is not the answer. It seems like the democrats have to get their act together to get anything accomplished with their new found power.

I'd like to know if there is actually a plan for Iraq. Simply stating "things must change" is not much of an agenda.

I feel this is wrong. If you want to burn a flag why don't you leave the USA. Yes it is action that could be considered under freedom of speech. But then why don't you just go flip the president the bird. Who aggres? I guess I just don't get it.

We gave up and left. Terrorists are banking on this again. It looks like the Democrats are going to follow in the Vietnam footsteps. They understand that the entire war on terror is a propaganda one.

Now that the Republicans paid the price for losing their way, what are some of the ideas we can run on? Here are some of mine.

1. Throw all able bodied people off of welfare.
2. Implement the Fair Tax.
3. Unleash Troops on terrorists in Iraq.
4. Shoot many missiles at North Korea
5. Throw the UN out of NY. Give them 60 days to leave.
6. Pull the US out of the UN
7. Ban all reporters from the battle field.
8. Arrest and try for treason anyone who leaked classified stories and the people who reported on them.
9. Make abortion legal only when the mother will die, she will be permanently and irreversibly physically injured, maybe on rape and incest.
10. Open ANWAR and all other areas where oil is on the US soil.
11. Offer any legal American child private school vouchers.
12. Make it mandatory for all voters to show a government issued ID.

It works for us, to a degree, because we have created it through our struggles against other, less enlightened forms of government. Our laws are made by people who have our individual and collective interests at heart. Where do we go from here, if anywhere?

All it does is tick everyone off and make it harder to get work done in this country. Somebody points a finger at somebody else and so the chain begins ending with both condemning each others values and tactics and refusing to consider whether a middle ground exists. And why, because of injured pride and the desire to win? A middle ground exists people! A middle ground is what gets work done. We are not THAT different from one another! I want to hear your thoughts on this.

I'm 14 and decided to become a Democrat. I have read about Democrats VS Republicans, their different political views, different people from each party, and how each party uses propaganda. I have used peoples' knowledge to inform myself about these different parties, and I listen to debates, and I have come to the conclusion, it's not because the Democrats have taken over the Senate, but because I believe in what they say. I have discussed this, and adults say I don't know anything about politics, and I listen to too much Greenday. Greenday is expressing their thoughts, and using propaganda through their songs. I'm not a Democrat because one of my favorite bands are, but they have helped me understand, through Holiday and American Idiot.
I have a mature way of thinking compared to most people my age, and they think nothing about these things, I know whats going on. They don't.
Another question...why do people not like Democrats that much?

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with everything he does, but anyone who says he's the "worst president ever" has obviously never studied any history. Vietnam was only 30 years ago, along with watergate and everything Nixon brought. Carter had the some of the highest unemployment rates and interest rates in the history of our country. Kennedy won the election 181k votes because he used his mob connections to stuff ballots and took huge gambles with Americas security. Regan brought our country into the huge debt it is now. Eisenhower was a racist who refused to take any action on Civil Rights.

Thats only the last 60 years, I could go on forever. Bush hasn't done any worse than anything any other president of this country has ever done.

World reaction: Democratic win welcomed
The seismic shift that midterm elections brought to Washington's political landscape was welcomed by many Wednesday in a world sharply opposed to the war in Iraq & outraged over the harsh methods the Bush administration has employed in fighting terrorism.

From Paris to Pakistan, politicians, analysts & ordinary citizens said they hoped the Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives would force President Bush to adopt a more conciliatory approach to the globe's laundry list of crises, and teach a president many see as a "cowboy" a lesson in humility.

Are the Republicans eating crow tonite with Bush?
