I like the governance of Quakers. They were/are peaceful, community-minded people, who live outside our materialistic world to some extent.
George Washington didn't want the party system. It's hard to break, but it's preferrable. More power in workers' hands than business would be nice.
And local governance could become more community orientated than it is.
I do think we've got a good thing going here, but we can't toot our own horns and say we're the better than sliced bread. We've got room to improve, like you suggest.

Well, all in all democracy was always viewed as a government that would always eventually fail in every scenario. Its why Our forefathers were afraid of it when they were establishing the united states. They were strongly against it, but thats what the people wanted so they conceded. You could look at China and say that communism is a wonderful form of government, they are doing better than many powerful nations as far as economy and healthcare. But thats mainly due to pulling in around 300 billion American dollars a year, and spending only 30 billion on America. Parliament is a very good thing. Look at the european countries. Their political standards are very high and strictly followed by the public eye. They mainstream media is vastly unbiased and is not afraid to wail on anyone. But if we went there, we would be reverting back to almost the same thing we fought against for our independence. There really are many good things we could due by changing our form of government (Not totally, just implementary) that many people will not accept because democracy has almost a "Jesus" status here, in essence making all other forms blasphemy. This country must undergo great change to stay alive, and its real sketchy to imagine it ever happening.

I wonder if a benevolent monarchy might be better. Sometimes a good leader may need to make unpopular decisions and our current system makes that difficult. Also, with each party distorting both their and their opponents positions, it's very hard to find the truth.

It really depends on what you perfer. Do you want everyone to share all the resources of the country? So everyone gets what they need but not neccisarily what they want? Do you want a majority of the people to be poor and be productive? It really depends on your goals.
