No other nation on earth spends nearly as much on military or keeps as much camps around the globe. Are we stuck in a cold war mode, without an enemy in sight? Is our military out of control? The own in house pentagon think tanks have since the seventies pushed for a change in strategy. What good does a US soldier stationed in Germany do since 1989?

I have been in the Army for 18 months, 2 more years to go.
l hate my MOS [21k- Plumbing] l got this MOS by mistake and l hate it.
my unit has me working at Supply right now and l love it, l asked my supply sergeant if l could reclass to 92Y [supply] without reenlisting because l dont want to reenlist and he said he wasn't sure but he doesn't think they let u reclass without reenlisting...
the reason l want to reclass is because lm just temporary working at supply and evenually l have to go back to my platoon and do whatever engineers do.
any advice, comments, sugestions?... thanx.

The U.S. troops have no reason to be in Iraq other than to grab the country’s oil and use its territory as a launching pad for further military attacks.

All of this because the top 8% of the nation who control the nation wanted war to increase profits from oil, either directly or by proxy.

The war is failing, they care less, troops should ask themselves if the war is a failure why die for a failure? Why die so people like the Bush twins can laugh at you all the way to the next million dollar party? And they are laughing...

Go AWOL there is no pride lost in that in this sick and twisted war.

It is the same as the Russians in Afghanistan look at the history of that war! Mothers coming to theater to get their sons! The country didn't want it, the elite did! They knew it why can''t you see it?

But why you are not allowed to have it longer. i understand that i can't have hair infront of my eyes, but why can't i have it half way up the ear ? and why do you have to shave your head in the training school ?

He's still 17 and will turn 18 in July and I just turned 18 in March. She's one of these anti Iraqi war fanatics and she's really upset with me. I don't understand her. I've been with him for many years now and she never got that upset at me when we ALMOST went all the way more times than I can remember, yet now she's saying awful things about me. Recently we both received a packet of forms to fill out and other materials in the mail that's how she found out. I was keeping it a secret from my mom too because I was afraid to tell her but my dad knows. He's the one to advise me to keep it quiet for now and just let it happen and eventually she would come around. My boyfriend and I would receive all sorts of benefits including college tuition, and a bonus for enlisting, etc. We could even get married. His mom's reaction really startled me. What's wrong with serving your country?

i see old people who are vets and the government didn't take care of them. it is so sad. what would happen if you get injured in war, you may end up like these homeless men and women looking for handouts because they can't work and the government isn't paying them enough to live.

I am 22 years old and on Social Security disability. I have never had competitive employment (I was only able to get disability because of a parent who is on it and I was ill before age 22) . I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder after a suicide attempt at age 17. I'm a high school dropout currently attempting to get a diploma (not a GED) through an accredited distance learning program (Penn Foster). I am not on any medications and I think of suicide on a daily basis.

I know the outlook is grim and the Air Force is highly selective. There have been stories in the last 3 years of shady Army recruiters ignoring mental health history, but this seemingly never occurs with Air Force recruiters.

The only reason I have any hope (I am a realist) is due to the fact that I am obsessed with learning and always test well. I don't want to sound arrogant, but I am no idiot and believe I could score higher than a 90 on the ASVAB.

Is there an actual chance? Or I am doomed?

Lenin stated that imperialism allows the capitalists from developed (rich) countries to extract a superprofit from the working class of undeveloped (poor) countries. In this way capitalists could circumvent the tendency of profit rates to fall by using more labor-intensive production in colonial, or zones controlled by imperialism. These were "super-profits" in that these profit rates exceeded the average rates possible in the imperialist centers. The majority of this superprofit is kept by the capitalists themselves, but some of it is shared with the working class of the developed countries (in the form of higher standards of living, cheaper consumer goods, etc.), in order to placate that working class and avoid revolution at home.

Some of you probably saw my posting earlier about my husband & his fake orders. My husband has been leaving EVERY weekend & staying the whole weekend for "work". Well, we have a joint bank account & I recently went in & got a statement for the last few months. On these weekends he's been going to restaurants (& obviously paying for more than one person)movies, liquors stores, etc. When I confronted him about this he said it's all job related & they're investigating people. Yeah, I know the government does investigate people & all, my question is why does he have to pay for it? He says his unit is new & they don't have the funding. But he's spending money at restaurants left & right & like $40-$75 each time. He even goes into his overdraft protection to have to compensate for some of this. I asked how the government could make him do that & why he has to pay for the other people he's with. He says they can make him do whatever they want. Is this true?

Also, does anyone know about any delays on going to Fort Sam Houston?
Thank you.
