The U.S. troops have no reason to be in Iraq other than to grab the country’s oil and use its territory as a launching pad for further military attacks.

All of this because the top 8% of the nation who control the nation wanted war to increase profits from oil, either directly or by proxy.

The war is failing, they care less, troops should ask themselves if the war is a failure why die for a failure? Why die so people like the Bush twins can laugh at you all the way to the next million dollar party? And they are laughing...

Go AWOL there is no pride lost in that in this sick and twisted war.

It is the same as the Russians in Afghanistan look at the history of that war! Mothers coming to theater to get their sons! The country didn't want it, the elite did! They knew it why can''t you see it?

You won't turn your back on your country huh? Well you are because the People of this country are being lied to and you ratify those lies with your actions, your bullets, you are not on the side of the country you are on the side of the BUSINESS CLASS leadership who hates democracy in the US and in Palestine (the freest election the Middle East has ever had REJECTED by the US). You need to wake up.

It was SADDAM, sure sure, what about Mugabe, Musharif, The Saudi Royal Family?

SADDAM was a peacenik compared to these fascist nuts! You aren't fighting them are you?

No it is SADDAM, well you are as bloody as Sadam in your attempts to quell the infighting in Iraq, he did better in fact. You simply destroyed Iraq and factionalized the people again, undoing what Sadam had done in the way of unity. He was brutal, but so are you. So are many many world dictators. Don't be dumb it is not about Saddam or Iraqis (we starved Iraqis not Sadda with sanctions for 15 years remember?)

Im goint to service soon this year. Im going to war for the personal reason of taking down radical terroists group and help restablize Iraq. A mistake that we made and we have to fix. If you little girly coward punk dont wanna help your nation try to stop a nation from killing itself then go hide inder a rock. Leave the Loyal, obligated, respectful, selfless, honorable, moral, and courageous people to handle this. Radical religious terroists groups oppose womens rights also. I would at least expect all the ladies to be againts radical religious terroists and support the war. Our people are not enlisting to steal oil. Also the war is a failure only if we punk out and give up. If were not effecient then we have to adapt, and recently the united states military has invented some really good weapons that are more effecient and to prevent exrtra uncessary calsuaties as well as buildings being razed. The reaction we shouldnt have is punking out, its approaching this problem with a better new strategy. If your to such a punk to help try to create civil disorder instead helping the nation then go to another country. You wanna support the troops send food or other aid to the military to support troops when they end up in the middle of the battle field. Help the troops be as prepared and confident as they can. Help them be strong. They are also no drafts now so the troops are volunteers that joined the service, Only cowards and un honerable people dont keep there obligtions and words. you claim your patriotic american then act like a one. Dont act like some kind of lazy @s* wimp. Only failures react to a challange they dont understand yet with giving up, the tough and succesful that live on learn, solve and adapt.

Also you people act like the war is wrong because of murder. But i bet if we were wining it with a good kill death ratio the majority of you would be supporting the war. Like the desort storm. You just opposing the war because you cant handle it and wimps and cowards even though the majority dont actually go to service. yet alot of the troops stay in raq, full fill there duties and volunterly join the service. The are no drafts. You people only join the wining side because you suffer less pain. not because you are actually loyal and value the cause and they suffer a million more times than wht you sufffer when they go in service. yet they volunterly stay there and fight on.

Unfortunately, the US military is simply not a democracy. These soldiers are taken from all walks of American life and they are trained to kill and follow orders. That is the military doctrine that exists in all military personnel all over the world. You must take a normally functioning human being and train them to kill. It takes time, and the more training you receive, the more brainwashing you get, the better you are at your job. They simply have no choice in the matter. Any insurrection will result in the application of military law. That can possibly lead to a dishonorable discharge, and federal jail time.
On must first understand that the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq is all about oil. It is the outright manifestation of American greed promulgated by the rich republican party and the Bush Neoconservatives. Bush himself has said the the world does not need crazy dictators running countries that hold more than half of the world energy supplies (fossil fuels). The large oil corporations and Cheney have used the US Military to secure the Iraq oil fields so the oil corporations can basically steal Iraq's oil wealth, enrich themselves beyond their wildest dreams, and screw over the American people by charging outrageous oil prices.
There is so much here to discuss it would take a book to include everything that needs to be said.
Good night and good luck.

First, do you use oil? Is it really such a bad thing?

Second, and more importantly, THEY ARE NOT KILLING AND/OR DYING FOR OIL, regardless of what you prefer to think despite a great deal of evidence to the contrary called facts.

Thirdly, if you had any clue as to what honor and commitment was or loyalty to your country, which gives you the right to say these lies, particularly against the government, you wouldn't even suggest that the military go AWOL because they don't like the war. What are you, 12? I pity your girlfriend if that's your idea of commitment! How about if you grow up a bit, and then come back and ask a serious question?

Dude, there is honestly something wrong in your head. You can disapprove of the war, but do it for sane reasons. Telling a soldier to go AWOL is like telling you to murder your mother.

The main reason we are still in Iraq is oil, but in a strange way you probably have never thought about. Al-Maliki, prime minister or Iraq, currently is closely allied with Al-Sadr, a powerful Iranian who runs death squads in Iraq. Russia and Iran have been making close ties lately, and its no secret that Russia is not a fan of the US. If the US were to leave, Iraq, Iran, and Russia would ally, and thier combined oil production would be greatly above Saudi Arabia and other nations that are friendly to the US. Using that they could corner the oil market and cut most of the oil we need to maintain our society. We have alot of oil in the United States, however its all illegal to drill for, and it would take us alot of time to get to those oil resources, while in the mean time the economy plummets.

Yea, it has nothing to do with the murderous rein of Saddam, or the insurgents in Iraq trying to force their extremist laws on the Iraqi people, or Iran trying to come in and take over the country and the oil, and sure doesn't have anything with trying to give the Iraqi people the opportunity to have OPPORTUNITY to live a meaningful life and have all the options we have and take for granted.

Yep, has nothing to do with that. It is only about oil.

So people should go AWOL because two girls laugh at them? Wow. Going AWOL is turning your back on your country and your own people, it is the act of a true coward.

You, are truly blind. I am "A TROOP" And I would never turn my back on my country! No matter how screwed up the plan is. I believe in civil nations. I believe in freedoms. You need to read up some or something, because this is what I hear from 99.9 percent of my troops. So you believe nations rules under tyranny, and when, oh say 30 sanctions fail, we can just let them off the hook?? Please. Do yourself a favor, and don't boil this down to oil.

Ok I have a beef with this. think with me if you will. What have we done in Iraq?.....1. rid most of the terrorist. 2. We set up democracy instead of tryanny. 3. We are helping establish schools that were distroyed (by the terrorists). 4. feeding the poor. We aren't over there taking all the oil. If we were gas wouldn't be so high. Also the reason we even when over there was because We got bombed. so we went after them. DUH!!! What started WWI ...................NOT GERMANY.... but they got the blame because they were the first to invade. Austrian Archduke Ferdinand went to see his own colony (SERBIA) and the "Black Hand" shot him and his wife. So when This all went down Germany goes hmmmm.... Hey I want to fight too.... So they invaded another country not there own. Now We got bombed. So we go after these guys we get 4 leaders. And we just resently got the last few. If we didn't go fight over there we would be fighting here in our own sweet USA!!! think ahead.... "Make sure your brains in gear before engaging the mouth"

Ignore most of these answers from people who don't have a thirst for the truth. In a way, you can't blame the common US citizen, the government put extensive effort into countering what should be common sense. Its hard to believe that one is on the wrong side, that's hard to accept. Of course we're there for oil. Its common sense. Just picture some other country's govt saying all the things our govt said; then picture 150,000 troops on the ground, but in a different country's uniform; picture 150,000 private contractors, all from a different country. The common sense picture becomes easily seen then.

As to your question as why military personel, esp. the common soldier, does not see that he/she is risking their lives for oil - that's a complex answer in a way.
First off, many do, not all are in the dark.
As for those who are, firstly, its a part of military training, to follow commands without question to accomplish a goal.
Its also hard to look at yourself in the mirror and realize what you've given your life to (in Iraq) is a lie as far as what is said by the govt.
You would think that those in the military would be the most anti-war, b/c they are the ones being sh#* on by the very entity (us govt) they entrusted their lives to.

It can be hard for people to see the truth in this matter b/c its hard to look in the mirror. you're also not going to find "information" in mainstream (big) media, their business is entertainment and making money, not information and analysis.
So people have to have a thirst for knowing. if not, then they simply absorb what is around them on the tv, radio, newspaper, internet.
Also a factor is that it doesn't affect people's day to day lives, unless you have lost a loved one due to this.

Another factor, exhibited in many answers on this website, is that many people see violence as the answer/solution to problems. The first and only answer. Problem? kill 'em. plain and simple. With disregard and total disinterest in how things came to be.
The funny thing is, this is the best thing you can do to increase terrorism.
Think on smaller terms. What's the quickest way to have violence directed at you when you walk in a bar? ... to walk in and punch somebody.

There's a reason why terrorism is directed at us. They didn't just spin the globe and pick the USA at random. Its not because we're western - central america and south america are western too. its not because we're capitalist, lots of countries are capitalist. its not b/c we're mostly white and christian, most of europe and australia is that way. Its distinctly b/c of the methods our government uses in conducting foriegn policy and has for the last few decades.

You obviously have no knowledge about the military, the question is not whether it's about oil or not. Bush is the president, and the president serves as the head of the military so whatever he says goes. You don't have to like it, but when people join they know what the risks are and know that their duty is to follow orders.
