U.S./Iraqi forces are now trying to blocked the Syria and Iran borders. But a lot of insurgents are already inside Iraq and somehow are able to take a disguise as an Iraqi coalition-force. How are they able to get that uniform? Is there a military surplus store in Baghdad? What can our technology do to detect impostors?

I want to join the coast guard however Im married to an e-6 marine and wondering if we both get separate bah or just one of us, and what the chances are of us being based close to each other( at least 100 miles)my recruiter keeps reassuring me that although they cant put it in writing that the coast guard works hard to base active duty spouses close together and that i will probably get based by my husband.I would be taking a big chance on this as I have a 1 year old son and would like to keep our family close to each other. I was told at the cg office that I didnt need a custody is this correct?I have heard with other branches this is true. anyone able to help??

I am a Vet. I am very proud of my service. But I have moved on with my life and don't coat my car with stickers calling people who are opposed to war - cowards.

I've seen war, there is nothing to like about it.

Yeah, its hard. But I am no better of an American because I was in Afghanistan, than people who protest war.

Hi there,
It is a true fact that the entire world believes that the US has the best fighter aircrafts in the world, best technology and good pilots. But at times I really doubt. I was exploring the capabilities of Russian and Soviet fighters in Wikipedia.org. It really was impossible to believe what I read. I mean, the US claims that it has the best fighters, but Russian/Soviet fighters like the MIG-21, the MIG-29 and the new Sukhois are much better than F-15,F-16 and the F-18s. (the ones who boast to be the best in the world?). Not only that, in most joint exercises, like with the Indian Air Force and the German Air Force, the MIG-29s used by their pilots defeated the US F-15 and the F-16s in dog fights. The Federation of American Scientists has proved this too.
The MIG-21 started its service back in 1959 whereas the MIG-29 entered in 1977!
So who is the best anyway. The so called best pilots in the world fail in simple exercises??
Can anyone tell me whats happening?

We live in America where you can get almost anything you want 24/7. Perhaps this is the reason why we are so frustrated with this war because it is not the quick fix we are used to.

Some are saying bring the troops home. I've asked military personel how they feel about this and they want our support. They want to do their jobs. They say that the enemy laughs at us when they hear reports from the US about withdrawing troops. WHo do you believe, an actual soldier in Iraq or a politician with an agenda?

Of course, there is always the question, if we leave now, will the enemy follow us home? Maybe, maybe not but why should we risk potentially fighting a war on our own soil?

We are not at war with Iraq, we are there to help them as they are an important ally to us. We are at war with an enemy who wants to destroy Iraq's weak infrastructure which will have a negative effect throughout the world. Shouldn't we support our troops effort to help the world?

Then how come Muqtada Al Sadr, the one responsible for the fighting in Fallujah has left for Iran?

If the US is losing why would he need to seek refuge in Iran?

They are nowhere near as powerful as rifles, yet bigger and less maneuverable than the newer generation of PDW's, and unlike PDW's, most of them don't have the ability to defeat body armor. Are they on the way out or are they still useful?

It's clear that they lied to us about Iraq possessing WMDs (see Cheney's statement below claiming "there is no doubt that Iraq has WMD's"...the evidence shows it WAS HIGHLY DOUBTFUL). So why should we believe them now when they're claiming Iran is arming the insurgents?

"Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction; there is no doubt that he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us." ~Dick Cheney August 2002

Why should we believe their official explanation of 911 for that matter, especially when they stonewalled the investigation?
